It is hosted by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and presented by Carillon Assisted Living of Wake Forest.
“It’s a way to bring together businesses that have products and services targeted to adults over the age of 50,” Corey Hutcherson, the vice president of community relations for the chamber, said. “At the dame time, residents can mingle and learn about different businesses, volunteer organizations and other recreational activities that may appeal to them.”
Admission is free and groups are welcome. There will be free food samples and more than 70 exhibitor booths.
Presentations about saving money on prescription drugs for seniors, an overview of the RAISE Family Caregivers Act and other topics will be held during the day. For the first time, there will be Bingo sessions with a variety of prizes.
Several free wellness screenings will be offered: hearing, depression, balance and gait, vision and eye health and blood pressure.
The door prizes include a trip to Asheville with tickets to The Biltmore estate; a grandparent entertainment package includes tickets to Brooks Street Bowl, Galaxy Fun Park and Marquee Cinamas; and a cultural arts package including tickets to the North Carolina Symphony and the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Grand Reopening Party.
New this year is a preview night on Monday, March 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. “We heard from many residents that they wanted to attend but couldn’t get away from work during the daytime,” Hutcherson said. The presentations and wellness screenings will not be offered, but many of the exhibitors will be present.
“Along with presenting sponsor Carillon Assisted Living, we want to thank Richland Creek Community Church for its continued generosity. By providing the space for this event, the church allows our community to come together,” Hutcherson said.
