Senior Lifestyle Expo April 12

A new event aimed at the area’s growing population of active seniors, the Senior Lifestyle Expo will happen Tuesday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church. Admission is free and there will be free coffee and refreshments along with more than 50 exhibitor booths and informative presentations. The event is presented by Carillon Assisted Living in Wake Forest with the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce. The church is at 3229 Burlington Mills Road.

“The Senior Lifestyle Expo is modeled after our very successful business expos,” Corey Hutcherson, the chamber vice president of membership, said. “It’s a way to bring together businesses that have products and services targeted to adults over the age of 50. At the same time, residents can mingle and learn about different businesses, volunteer organizations, and recreational activities that may appeal to them.”

Presentations and demonstrations will be made throughout the day. The current speaker schedule is as follows:

10:15-10:45 am: Senior Recreation Opportunities presented by Town of Wake Forest Parks and Recreation

10:50-11:20 am: Travel and Packing Tips presented by AAA of Wake Forest

11:25-11:55 am: Exercising with Osteoarthritis presented by Allied Rehab

12:00-12:30 pm: Dementia and How it Pertains to Assisted Living presented by Carillon of Wake Forest

12:35-1:05 pm: Eating for Energy presented by Infinite You Health and Wellness

1:10-1:40 pm: Fraud Protection for the Elderly presented by the Wake Forest Police Department

Many exhibitors will have giveaways at their booths. Attendees may also enter to win door prizes, which include a trip to Asheville with tickets to The Biltmore Estate, a kayak, performing arts tickets, massages, and more.

“Along with Carillon Assisted Living, we want to thank several other businesses that have stepped up to support this new endeavor,” Hutcherson said. “They are making it possible to produce this high-quality event. Thanks to Gold Sponsor Wakefield Chiropractic; Silver Sponsors AAA Wake Forest, Hasentree, and The Wake Forest Weekly; Bronze Sponsors Allied Rehab Inc., The Lodge at Wake Forest, The Gardens at Wakefield Plantation, Raleigh Hearing and Tinnitus Center, Monroe Wallace Law Group, Bright Funeral Home, Traditions at Wake Forest, and Richland Creek Community Church.”
