Senior Center this week

The Fourth Friday Social Dance will be held Friday, May 7, at the center with ballroom, swing, West Coast, salsa and shag from 7 to 10 p.m.

There will be lessons from 7 to 7:30 for those who need to sharpen up their techniques.

The cost is $10 per person, cash only at the door. All proceeds go to the Northern Wake Senior Center.

Dress is business casual, and bring your dancing shoes! Refreshments are available.

The Northern Wake Senior Center is clearing its book shelves and having a giant book sale in preparation of accepting clean books printed between 2018 and 2022. The goal is to have more up-to-date books for loans. Please do not donate magazines.

The book sale will be Wednesday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is a new beginning knitting class with a maximum of six students. It will run for two weeks, and the first class began yesterday. May 3. However, if you call the center you can probably get into the next class.

Another new class will be introduction to card making or how to produce beautiful greeting cards. It begins on June 8 and will be held for five consecutive Wednesdays from 11 to 12:30.

Class fee is $10 which includes card stock and embellishments.

Other items needed for this class include

  • Small (5 inch or less) sharp scissors
  • Tombowtape runner – ‘permanent’
  • Tombowliquid glue – ‘permanent’ (either blue or green bottle)

These items can be found at Michaels, Joanne Fabrics or Hobby Lobby.
