Senior Center this week

Jenny’s Weekly Jots

Strong, confident, resilient. These words describe this week’s Older Americans hero of the week, Jetske Insinger, Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Northern Wake Senior Center.  Mrs. Insinger and her husband came from Holland and moved to Canada.  Their original plan was to come to the United States, but the laws required that you have a sponsor, so they moved to Canada in 1958. Married with five children, she and her husband whom she lost recently, moved over twenty times. A well-educated nurse in Holland, she practiced her profession in Nicaragua, securing equipment, performing procedures, and dealing with inhospitable governments. Her nursing credentials were not recognized in the United States so she started over getting her nursing degree in the United States and continue to update the requirements needed to retain her license.

Moving to Wake Forest to be near family, Mrs. Insinger enjoys nature, feeding deer, gardening, field hockey, and tennis. She joined the Senior Center eight years ago and was soon elected to the board. Her vision, wish lists, steadfastness, and leadership helped the center to evolve and become what it is today, an Evolutionary Center of Excellence. Jetske applauds and supports our staff and volunteers as we strive to create a healthy place to enhance the well-being of the senior population.

Mrs. Insinger admits that times have changed and so have people. She like many of us believes it will be a time-consuming process for the Center to return to a healthy functioning unit following this Pandemic. People will need to readjust to socialization because technology, although necessary and wonderful, can be isolating. Regardless, she maintains her optimistic attitude that we will come together again and realize how important both people and technology have become working in tandem to the benefit of our aging population.

Thank you Mrs. Insinger, for being the amazing woman, leader and friend you are. And thank you for sharing your story.

Until next time know we are here for you and do not hesitate to call. Of course, Tramadol https://halifaxartfestival.com/tramadol is one of the strongest painkillers, which not just makes the pain weaker, but completely relieves it. It once helped me out very seriously during the exercises (I’m a military man). Stay safe, active, healthy, and happy.

Well Wishes,
