See, taste downtown during AAH

Friday night Wake Forest’s historic downtown South White Street will be alive with shops and studios open late and visitors, newcomers and old hands, seeing what they have to offer.

There will be free horse and carriage rides, weather permitting, and receptions for featured artists in most of the studios.

Maureen Seltzer reported, saying Lauri Arntsen has responded to requests from her fans and will be the featured artist at The Artists Loft, upstairs from the Wake Forest Coffee Company during Art After Hours Friday, February 13th. The venue will come alive with expressive paintings that will coincide perfectly with this month’s Mardi Gras festivities.

Arntsen will host encaustic painting demos on Friday night and the next day’s Mardi Gras events. She will also be teaching two workshops at The Artist Loft. The first one is Thursday, Feb. 19 from 6-9 and the second is Feb. 28, 9 – 12 noon. In addition to paintings, smaller encaustic works will be for sale which makes great gifts for loved ones and friends.
Arntsen is known for her art as much as for her work throughout the Triangle as an arts advocate and event planner.  As of late, she has spread her wings and looks forward to her work being housed in galleries and collectors homes. In March, she will be relocating temporarily to the coast for an Artist in the Schools program at a local High School. Owner Pam Jay issued an invitation: Please join us this month on February 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 for Art After Hours at Next Consignment Boutique, where we are pleased to present the music of Colleen Chanel. She is a native of California and received her BA from the University of Santa Clara and her MBA from the College of Notre Dame. She then successfully emerged onto the entertainment scene over 25 years ago and has been honored with numerous international awards in music and multimedia entertainment. She headlined in her own show The New Age of Continental, with a 15-Piece Orchestra at the Steinback Forum in Monterey.

In 2007, she premiered her signature CD, Moments of Enchantment, in a live concert at Living Arts College in Raleigh. Colleen’s debut song as a singer/songwriter, Fly Like An Angel, is currently featured on a newly released compilation CD.  Plus, she is birthing her own ninth CD with local longtime musical director and Emmy award winning producer, Craig Brandywine of Center Sound Records in Raleigh, to be released this year. Colleen Chanel’s CD’s are available on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and in Raleigh at Center Sound Records.  You can learn more at her website www.colleenchanel.com.

As usual, refreshments will be served at Next Consignment Boutique to help celebrate Valentine’s Day and Colleen’s beautiful voice.

Art After Hours is sponsored by Wake Forest Downtown.
