Sam’s Club opens Thursday

Mayor Vivian Jones and members of the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce will help Sam’s Club Manager Buffy Bullard with the grand opening of the first Wake Forest store at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. The Wake Forest High School JROTC Color Guard will present the colors and Sam’s Club member Jessie Pendergrass will sing the national anthem.

Former Wake Forest University and NBA point guard Muggsy Bogues will meet fans and sign autographs from 2 to 4 p.m. There will also be a variety of food samples and product demonstrations through the grand opening weekend,

During the opening celebration Bullard will announce the local nonprofit organizations who will receive $25,000 in grants from the Sam’s Club Giving grant program.

Also, the club will carry several local and regional items, including craft beer from White Street Brewing Company and Bombshell Beer Company as well as wine from Chatham Hill Winery. Through the company’s Road Show program, several other local and regional businesses, like Wake Forest’s own Grendeddy Dave’s, will be featured during grand opening weekend.

The Wake Forest club will be the first Sam’s Club in the area to offer Scan & Go shopping. The mobile app makes members’ checkout process faster and more convenient by being able to scan UPC codes on items as they load them into their cart. When they are done shopping and ready to check out, they can pay directly on their phone from anywhere in the club and bypass the checkout line. This service will be rolled out to other clubs in the Triangle later this year.

The Wake Forest club will also offer Club Pickup and Drive-Thru, which enables members to order household or business items at SamsClub.com that will be ready for pickup in less than 24 hours.

As part of a pre-grand opening membership promotion, residents can get up to a $30 gift card when they sign up as a new member. Memberships range from $45 to $100.

Non-members are encouraged to visit the new Wake Forest club and take advantage of a free One-Day Pass available online or in the club at the Member Service Desk.
