RST has its river crossing permit

RST Fiber has received a permit to cross the Neuse River near Old Falls of the Neuse Road from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but the Shelby company has not disclosed when it will resume work installing high-speed fiber optic cable in Wake Forest.

There was no answer to an email about future plans this week. The company also has permission from the town for a small building on South Taylor Street to house equipment.

When work resumes, RST will use Duke Energy Progress poles to attach its conduit to cross the river. They will then pull the cable through the conduit and be able to energize the system. Before work halted, RST had installed cable in part of the Crenshaw Manor subdivision.

There will be updates in future weeks.
