Rogers Road wash-out very unsafe

A large cross-section of Rogers Road between Hobblebush Waykeep and Heritage Gates Drive was washed out during Hurricane Matthew Saturday, and Wake Forest officials are warning people to stay a safe distance away.

Monday pictures surfaced on social media of children and adults standing in the rubble, which is unstable and extremely unsafe.

As a result, town crews have cordoned off the area with yellow caution tape and Wake Forest police will regularly patrol the area and be on the lookout for people who ignore the warnings and put themselves in danger.

Officials with the state Department of Transportation have assessed the damage to the road between Wake Forest and Rolesville and say they hope to have it repaired and reopened with six weeks.
