Roaming DMV office here Monday

The mobile Driver’s License Unit that showed up in Wake Forest two weeks ago will be open for business Monday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the annex at the Renaissance Centre, 405 Brooks Street. It will return every first and third Monday, helping area residents who have had to travel to Raleigh or Louisburg for licenses and other DMV services.

The office has two driver license examiner stations, mirroring the driver license services in permanent offices. The Division of Motor Vehicles’ new compact mobile office is part of Governor Pat McCrory’s initiative to improve customer service and reduce wait times at the DMV.  “This first of its kind mobile office allows us to connect all North Carolinians to the services they need, regardless of where they live,” McCrory said. “This one-stop shop allows customers to handle all their motor vehicle needs close to home.”

“This new unit not only gives us new flexibility, but it also offers a completely new tool in our toolbox for serving DMV customers,” said Department of Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson. “It is the first of its kind, and we would not be at all surprised to have other jurisdictions in the country show an interest in this new concept.”
