The filing period is over and we know the seven candidates — Greg Bartholomew, Jim Dyer, Heather Holding, Chad Sary, Anne Reeve, Sean Sullivan and Adam Wright.
Now, what issues do you see ahead for the Town of Wake Forest and what questions would you like to ask the candidates? If you submit them to the editor at cwpelosi@aol.com, they and the answers will appear in the Gazette during September and October. The Gazette will also pose its own questions and interview all the candidates during that same time.
Sullivan could not be reached last week but has submitted a short biography for this week. He writes that he was originally from Binghamton, New York but moved to the Raleigh area in the 1980s and to Wake Forest in 1994.
Sullivan received a degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College with a double major in accounting and business administration. He has worked in accounting and human resources for almost 30 years, specializing in payroll and benefits as a certified payroll professional, and he is now employed as payroll manager for the Raleigh Durham Airport Authority.
“I am the father of three married sons who attended Wake Forest Elementary, Middle and High schools. My sons were active in sports, band and Boy Scouting. During our time in scouting, I served as a Cub Scout den leader and a Boy Scout merit badge counselor.”
“Since my move to Wake Forest, I have seen the Town of Wake Forest more than double in size,” Sullivan wrote, “and I understand the balanced perspective required for both growth and quality of life. I am interested in being a part of helping to continue to guide that growth with an emphasis on listening to the desires of our residents and businesses who ultimately finance those decisions.”
Wake Forest town elections are nonpartisan and the three candidates with the most votes on Nov. 5 will be elected. Commissioners serve four year terms. Three commissioners will be elected this year, and in 2021 town voters will elect a mayor and two commissioners. Commissioners are paid an $8,000 salary.
