Quarter Frenzy to benefit auxiliary

A Quarter Frenzy on Sunday, May 1, at 3:30 p.m. in the Mill Room at The Factory, 1839 South Main Street, will benefit the Wake Forest American Legion Auxiliary.

A Quarter Frenzy is a cross between an auction, a raffle, a charity fundraiser, and a home party. Members of the auxiliary and local direct sales vendors will auction off new items for one through four quarters per bid. It is a fun-filled event. You can support the Auxiliary and perhaps go home with valuable prizes. Bring a roll or two of quarters for bidding. Due to gaming laws no one under 18 can be admitted. Additional information about the Quarter Frenzy is available on Facebook.

In conjunction with the Quarter Frenzy, a food drive to benefit the USO at Raleigh/Durham Airport will be held. Items needed by the USO are coffee K cups, individually packaged snacks (chips, cookies, crackers, beef jerky, etc.), disposable dinnerware (plates, cups, utensils), lip balm, chewing gum, and puzzle books. For each item donated, you will  be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a prize.

The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. It was founded as a non-profit in 1919. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 187 in Wake Forest has been serving military personnel, their families and community since 2009. Proceeds from their projects have been used to benefit the Airborne Attic, Semper Fi Fund, Warrior Transition Battalion and Fisher House at military bases in North Carolina as well as contributed to Military Missions in Action, the USO at Raleigh Durham Airport and current and former service members in Wake Forest and the surrounding communities.

The auxiliary meets the third Thursday each month at 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 187, 225 East Holding Avenue.
