Proclaim Cougars and Bryce Love Day

We celebrated with a parade last year when the Cougars trounced Greensboro Page to win the first state football championship. How can we top that now that the Wake Forest High team has beaten the latest of the Charlotte football behemoths, Mallard Creek?

For one thing we could include Bryce Love, who came in second in the Heisman Trophy scoring Saturday, and also Dexter Lawrence, who is now tearing up the turf at Clemson.

We will be celebrating some of our fine young men and their coaching staff headed by Reggie Lucas. We will be honoring a school which has had few state championships, only basketball coach Larry Lindsey’s teams which took the 2A title in 1971 and a couple subsequent years and the 1996 soccer team.

  1. Shouldn’t we also honor the state championships of other teams like the Franklin Academy Cross Country Team, the Franklin Academy soccer team and the Heritage Cheerleading squad? Why do only football teams deserve parades?

    Just asking.
