Popularity means more volunteers needed

As the popularity of Friday Night on White continues to grow, so too does the need for volunteers. Due to the incredible success of the first four Friday Night on White concerts, the Town of Wake Forest is seeking additional volunteers for the remaining performances.

Presented by White Street Brewing Co., the Friday Night on White outdoor music series takes place along South White Street in downtown Wake Forest from 6 to 9 p.m. on the second Friday night of each month from April through September.

Attendance at the concerts has steadily increased each month. Well over 4,000 area residents turned out to see the Magic Pipers Band on April 8, followed by an estimated 9,000 on May 13 for Brickhouse, and over 10,000 on June 10 for The Will McBride Group. An evening cloudburst kept attendance on July 8 to about 8,000, but large crowds are expected for the final two events with The Remedy on Aug. 12, and Crush on Sept. 9.

Volunteers are needed to perform a variety of roles during each of these performances and may work two-hour shifts. However, they are not required to check age identification.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and will receive training and a commemorative T-shirt. Civic groups and community organizations are especially encouraged to participate.

For more information or to sign up to volunteer, visit www.wakeforestnc.gov/volunteer-fnow.aspx or contact Downtown Development Director Lisa Hayes at lhayes@wakeforestnc.gov.
