Rev. Ertle James Lawson
Nadine Holmes Lawson
Friday, February 21, 2014, was the end of the perfect love story. After 67 years of marriage, Nadine and Ertle Lawson of Wendell decided they could not live without each other. Friday morning we said goodbye to Ertle. Friday afternoon he met his “Darling” Nadine in Heaven. Both died of natural causes. Although we cannot imagine losing both of our parents in one day, we would not want it to happen any other way.
Rev. Ertle James Lawson was born on September 22, 1927, in Robeson County, the son of the late Grady Lewis Lawson and Ida Belle Taylor. He was a loving father with a gentle, kind spirit. A true man of God that expressed it through poetry. He was loved and respected by all.
His beloved wife Nadine Holmes Lawson was born on September 3, 1931, in Franklin County, the daughter of the Fred Riddick Holmes and Eunice Ethel Hill. She was a beloved wife and mother who opened her heart to everyone and was known by many from the NC State Farmer’s Market as Nadine’s Homemade Baked Goods.
