Janice Jones Dick

Janice Jones Dick, 64, of Raleigh and Emerald Isle, died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Rex Hospital. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Arlin V. and Thelma Perry Jones. Janice was employed by Westinghouse/ ABB/ Elster for 33 years before retiring. She enjoyed beach music, travel, spending time at her beach home and her four cats. She was a member of Stony Hill Baptist Church and Emerald Isle Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, July 30, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Freddie Braswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Stony Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Janice is survived by her husband of 43 years, James T. “Jay” Dick; her best friend, Patsy Tilley; and several aunts and cousins.

Janice had a love for her church and her Pastor Freddie Braswell and a love for her animals.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emerald Isle Baptist Church, 304 Emerald Plantation Road, Emerald Isle, NC 28594 or to the SPCA of Wake County, 200 Pet Finder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27584.

Rev. Woodrow W. Pollard, 87, of Wake Forest died Saturday, July 25, 2015, at WakeMed. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Clyde and Zula Pollard, and was an ordained bishop and a Church of God minister. Rev. Pollard was a former constable and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Entombment was in the Falls Community Cemetery with full military honors.

Rev. Pollard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Pollard; daughter, Gloria Thompson of Wake Forest; close cousins, Steve, Joyce, Shirley, and Johnnie; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Pollard, and by his brother, Charlie Pollard.

Pallbearers were R. L. Harris, Mike Harris, Samuel O’Neal, Billy Chappell, Tony Estes, and D. E. Duke, III.

Missie Allen Davis, 96, of Wake Forest died Friday, July 24, 2015, at The Haven of Rolesville. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Braddock and Ella Ray Allen, and was a member of Stony Hill Baptist Church. She was married to Maynard E. Davis, who preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon, July 27, 2015, at Stony Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Harp officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Davis is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Ann Ross and Judy Daughtry, who assisted in her care for the past several years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Harrison, and by her siblings, Leamon Allen, Meda Perry, Nellie Hailey, Elsie Wilson, Dalphus Allen, Eli Edward Allen and Harold Allen.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Haven of Rolesville for their care and support during her stay there.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Helping Hands at Stony Hill Baptist Church, 7521 Stony Hill Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Pallbearers were Ricky Allen, Bruce Allen Jr. Tim Allen, Ray Berry, Albert Hailey, and Nelson Ross.
