Claude V. Deats Jr.

Youngsville

Claude Vincent Deats Jr., 87, of Youngville passed away Friday morning, July 10, 2015, at his home. He was born in Endicott, N.Y., the son of the late Frances and Claude V. Deats Sr., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.

Mr. Deats was a retired engineer with IBM and was a member of Youngsville Baptist Church where he was a deacon.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2015, at Youngsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Haley officiating. Burial was in the Youngsville Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Deats is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rhea S. Deats; son, Mark Deats and wife, Rachelle, of Youngsville; and grandchildren, Marshall Deats and Sarah Deats Griffin and husband, Jack.

Pallbearers were Jack Griffin, Marshall Deats, Jim Underwood, Albert Breazeale, Al DePorter, and Tom Parrish.

Belle Mitchell Woodlief, 86, of Wake Forest passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Franklin Oaks Nursing Center. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Talmadge Addison Mitchell and Mary Bailey Lloyd Mitchell.

A graveside funeral service was held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, July 15, 2015, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Woodlief is survived by her daughters, Terry Horton and husband, Terry, of Wake Forest, and Susan Brown of Bunn; sons, Phillip Woodlief of Raleigh and Sammy Woodlief of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren, Johnny, Jonathan, Julie, Justin, Lindsey, and Adrienne; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Bennie; great-grandson, John; her brothers, Richard, Elton, Edwin, and Claude Vernon; and by her daughter-in-law, Eddy.

Gloria “Gail” Williams, 68, of Raleigh died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at her residence. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Mildred Edna Perry Williams and Butler David Williams. She was a retired artist.

A private graveside funeral service was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2015, at the Finch Family Cemetery on Six Forks Road in Raleigh.

She is survived by her daughters, Alecia Baucom Hayes (Scot) of Wake Forest, Dana Kristiansen (Kolbjorn) of Raleigh; a sister, Deloris Williams Horton of Raleigh; and grandchildren, Kyndall DySard, Colin Hayes, Brayden DySard, Kyler Kristiansen, Kalina Hayes and Kendall Hayes.

 Charles Howard Wright

Raleigh

Charles Howard Wright, 81, of Raleigh passed away Thursday evening, July 9, 2015, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Ernest Eugene Wright and Mary Gladys Hagwood Wright. Mr. Wright was a tool and die maker at Burlington Industries for 19 years and was the owner of Charles Wright Electrical Service.

Mr. Wright was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by so many for his hard work, dedication and willingness to help others. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and being in his garden, but most of all spending time with his family and enjoying everything life had to offer. His quiet steady demeanor made him a meaningful role model to many in his life.

Funeral services were held at 12 o’clock Monday, July 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude Rogers Wright; daughter, Angie Wright of Raleigh; sons, Danny Charles Wright of Raleigh, Preston Wade Wright and wife, Michelle, of Louisburg and Matthew Douglas Wright and wife, Amy, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Nick Lamm and wife, Christy, of StAugustine, Florida, Brandon Meeks and Jonathon Meeks, both of Creedmoor, Garrett Wright of Raleigh, Patrick Barletta of Pinckney, Michigan, Zachary Wright and Julia Wright, both of Raleigh; great-grandchild, Zoey Lamm; brother, Ernest Vernon Wright of Wendell; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Eunice Frazier, Mary Elizabeth Liles Leanie Millard, Irene Burnett and Edna Rogers; and his brothers, Gene Wright, Richard Wright and Jake Wright.

Pallbearers were Nickey Lamm, Garrett Wright, Brandon Meeks, Jonathon Meeks, Patrick Barletta, and Wayne Rodgers.

 Morris ‘Scrap’ Hailey

Morris “Scrap” Hailey, 88, of Youngsville passed away Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2015, at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Nehemiah Coleman Hailey and Sarah Brogden Hailey. Mr. Hailey was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Youngsville Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2015, at Youngsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Haley officiating. Burial was in the Youngsville Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Hailey is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazel Burnette Hailey; son, Randy Morris Hailey of Raleigh; granddaughters, Jenifer Akers and husband, Andy, of Indiana and Amanda Cobb of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Ava and Bowen Akers; brother, Willard Haley and wife, Leola, of Rolesville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mattie Wall, Dulcie Dickerson and Frances Eddins; and by his brothers, Norris Hailey, John Hailey, Bubba Hailey and Joe Hailey.
