Sylvia Ethel Grillo

Wake Forest

Sylvia Ethel Grillo, 84, of Wake Forest passed away Thursday evening, June 25, 2015, at her home. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Hartley Philp and Lily Jane Gill Philp.

Sylvia was a resident of Wake Forest for nine years.  She enjoyed traveling in her retirement years including numerous states, the Caribbean and a trip to England to see the towns where her parents were born.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, in the Chapel of Chapel Hill Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 11333 South Central Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Mrs. Grillo is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Nowoc and husband, Bob, of Wake Forest and Cynthia Halley and husband, Russ, of Coloma, Michigan; son, Jack McGreehin and wife, Lauren, of New Lenox, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. “Tony” Grillo, and by a brother, Thomas Hartley Philp.

Michael Lee ‘Mike’ Murphy

Youngsville

Michael Lee “Mike” Murphy, 68, of Youngsville passed away Thursday afternoon, June 25, 2015, at his home. He was born in Brownsville, Texas, and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. Mike was a civilian contractor for the U.S. Government for 25 years where his worked as a heavy equipment mechanic.

Services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Kinne and husband, Richard, of Youngsville; father, Robert Joseph Murphy of Oviedo, Florida; sister, Melodye Murphy and husband, Jeff, of Maitland, Florida; and a grandson, Mason Kinne of Youngsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Celestine Margaret Lazaroff Murphy; his mother, Sarah Frazier Murphy; and by a brother, Robert Murphy,

Fort Worth, Texas

Sue Lamb Eitel Lankford, 84, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 24, 2015, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born May 22, 1931 in Lubbock, Texas, the daughter of the late Thomas Curtis Lamb and Ollie Howard Lamb. Mrs. Lankford was preceded in death by spouses, George Albert Lankford Jr. who passed away on September 10, 1998, and by Leonard Joe Eitel, who passed away on January 19, 2009. She retired as a federal civil service executive administrative assistant September 1986.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, June 27, 2015, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lankford is survived by her son, Dr. Keith E. Eitel and daughter-in-law Glenda A. Eitel; grandchildren, Angela M. Clifton (Michael Clifton) and Paul A. Eitel (Lori Harrington Eitel); six great grandchildren. She is also survived by three of George Lankford’s children and great-grandchildren.

Casey A. Arnold

Raleigh

Casey A. Arnold, 45, of Raleigh, died on June 16, 2015.  Casey was born in Wake County, the son of the late L.A. and Barbara Arnold.

A memorial service was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2015, at Millbrook United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Catherine A. Case of Raleigh and her family.

 Carolyn Ruth Green

February 24, 1952 – June 23, 2015

Franklinton

Carolyn Green of Franklinton was called upon by the lord to return home on the morning of June 23, 2015. She was greeted at Heaven’s Gates by her parents, Marguretia K. and Thomas E. Green, three brothers, and her sister. Carolyn is survived by her partner in life,  Arthur Hennigan; her brother, Ronald H. Green; her children, Angela D. Surface, G. Annette Garner, Phillip L.  Shearin Jr., Ginger M. Keller, Renata S. Walker and Kristina D. Soltes; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Born February 24, 1952, in Charlotte, she moved to Raleigh with her parents at a young age where she lived the majority of her life until settling in Franklinton.  Carolyn was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed a great yard sale, planting, fishing and bingo, but most of all family time.

In reflecting on her life, family, friends and acquaintances always saw kindness, courage and a loving heart. She was a guiding light to us all and a blessing from God, which will surely be missed.

A graveside funeral service was held at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2015, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Carolyn’s memory.
