Carlyle Hill

Youngsville

Carlyle Hill, 72, of Youngsville passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the Franklin Oaks Nursing Center in Louisburg. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Bland and Annie Mae Hill.

She was a lifetime member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, Louisburg, and had worked for 27 years at Tom Tog’s in Youngsville before looking after many children at Creative Child Care in Youngsville.

A graveside funeral service was held at 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon, June 11, 2015, at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Carlyle is survived by her sister, Joan Hill of Youngsville; brother, B.J. Hill and wife, Marbeth, of Louisburg; niece, Dawn Todd; nephews, Al Hart and Scot Hart; special cousin, Ann Johnson, and numerous other family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Flat Rock Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.

 Sherman A. Pickard

Youngsville

Sherman A. Pickard, 87, of Youngsville passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, with his family by his bedside at Duke University Medical Center.  Sherman was born in Greensboro to the late Vernell and Rosa Pickard.

Sherman joined the Burlington Fire Department two years after graduating from high school and served as a member from 1949 to 1955. During this time, he also served as the Director of Training. Afterwards, Sherman was hired by the North Carolina Department of Insurance as the Director of Fire and Rescue Service Training and served in that position for 11 years, designing training and educational courses for firefighters. He was also a volunteer fireman in Garner during the 1960s.  In 1967, Sherman was hired by the North Carolina League of Municipalities. He served as Director of Services for 19 years. Part of his time involved working with fire departments on policies, practices, and equipment. He resigned upon his appointment as the Fire Chief for the City of Raleigh. Chief Pickard served the city from 1986 until his retirement from the Raleigh Fire Department on July 1, 1995. Chief Pickard was a graduate of the Municipal Administration Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also studied Fire Defense Systems at the University of Maryland, the United States Navy Structural Firefighting School, and the Florida State Fire College. Sherman also owned his own company for 30 years, Sherman A. Pickard Associates.

Sherman served his Lord faithfully through various churches, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and as a mentor to many.

Sherman is survived by his loving wife, Tillie, of 21 years. He is also survived by his sons, Ken Pickard (Jan) of Phoenix, Arizona, Scott Pickard of San Jose, California, and Dana White (Shannon) of Raleigh. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

A service celebrating Sherman’s life was held on Friday evening, June 12, 2015, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Franklinton Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklinton Baptist Church Window Restoration Fund, 108 West Mason Street Franklinton, NC 27525.

Charles E. Tingen

Youngsville

Charles Edward Tingen, 61, of Youngsville passed away Monday, June 8, 2015, at Maria Parham Hospital. He was born in Granville County, the son of the late James and Annie Beddingfield Tingen.

A memorial service was held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, June 11, 2015, at Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating.

Charles is survived by his wife, Lori Tingen; son, Chuck Tingen of Youngsville; daughter, Kristi VanValkenburgh and husband, Ryan, of Franklinton; grandchildren, Carleigh Tingen, Kamdyn VanValkenburgh and Tinley VanValkenburgh; brother, Jimmy Tingen and wife, Annette, of Wake Forest; and beloved canine companions, Peanut, Sugar, Izzy, and Bruno.

Charles Wayne Chamblee

October 6, 1955 ~ June 14, 2015

Youngsville

Charles Wayne Chamblee, 59, of Youngsville passed away at his home Sunday, June 14, 2015. He was born in Wake County and was a member of New Hope Christian Church on Hwy. 98, Louisburg. Charles worked at Alcatel Network System, and he enjoyed music and fishing as a hobby.

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015, at New Hope Christian Church with the Rev. Steve Barham officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his parents, Liffie Bailey Chamblee and Harold Cooley Chamblee of Raleigh; son, Charles Wayne Chamblee II of Raleigh; two daughters, Christy Chamblee Rice of Bunn and Tiffany Chamblee Laureano of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth Rice and Rebecca Chamblee Rice of Bunn, Isabella Grace Laureano and Daniel Alan Laureano of Raleigh; and several  aunts, uncles and cousins.

Anna Faye Troutman Daoust

Wake Forest

Anna Faye Troutman Daoust, 53, of Wake Forest passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Duke Raleigh Hospital after fighting a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was born in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Jimmy Dale Troutman and Dorothy Sparkes Troutman.

Anna was a caretaker by nature, the rock of the family and a faithful friend to many. She was always willing to give a helping hand and was anxious to please. Her smile would brighten anyone’s day especially the people that were under her care. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. Anna will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

A service celebrating Anna’s life was held at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, June 17, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Daoust is survived by her husband, Richard J. Daoust; children, Angela Troutman Jones (Ricky Carter), Richard J. Daoust Jr. (Taylor Coates), Harley D. Daoust (Heather Hill) and Nicole Daoust, all of Wake County; grandchildren, Dylan Carter, Brianna, Jacob, Bentley, Alexis and Gabby Daoust; sisters, Cindy Dockery, Debbie Thurman, Lisa Mulligan and Vicky Troutman, all of Daviess County, Kentucky; and special friends, The Lee Family, Audrey and Family and The Ray Family.
