James Victor Kelly

Rolesville

James Victor Kelly, 77, of Rolesville passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Josephine Neal Kelly and John Walter Kelly Sr.

James was a retired captain with the City of Raleigh Fire Department. He was a member of the Raleigh Elks Lodge since 1986, a member of the Raleigh Moose Lodge since 1990, where he earned the Pilgrim Degree in 2003, and was a Mason for 50-plus years.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. George W. McCullough III officiating. Burial was in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.

James is survived by his wife, Nancy Merritt Kelly; step-children, Roxey Wilkins and Clif Mangum; sisters, Doris Kelly Barbour of Orlando, Florida, Elizabeth Kelly Batten of Garner and Donna Kelly Huff of Willow Spring; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John W. Kelly Jr. and Richard Samuel Kelly; and sisters, Helen Louise Kelly Johnson and Josie Lee Kelly Watson.

Pallbearers were Mike Phillips, Rodney Privette, Paul Averette, Ronald Rhodes, Jerry Eddins, and Jim Lowery.

 Ruby B. Lapio

Raleigh

Ruby B. Lapio of Raleigh passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, and was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Anthony Lapio.

A funeral service honoring her life was held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, June 6, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Walters officiating.  Burial was Pinecrest Cemetery in Clayton.

Mrs. Lapio is survived by her sons, Gary Lapio and wife, Luanne, of Raleigh, and Mike Lapio and wife, Nancy, of Lake Mary, Florida; grandchildren, Krista Siachames and husband, Demetrius, of Raleigh, John Lapio of Austin, Texas, Kevin Lapio of Tampa, Florida, Christopher Lapio and wife, Rebekah, of Flower Mound, Texas, and Kari Lapio of Lewisville, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.

Alice Erma Pitman

Wake Forest

Alice Erma Pitman, 86, of Wake Forest passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at her home. She was born in Clay County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Griffin and Roxie Jarvis Griffin.

Alice enjoyed a long career in the medical industry, earning certified medical assistant credentials and serving the Ohio State Medical Assistants Society, including a term as state president. She was also very active in community and church activities throughout her life; charter member and former president of Four Seasons Garden Club of Wooster, Ohio, Xi Alpha Sigma sorority in both Ohio and Tennessee, and Ohio state president of  Business & Professional Women Organization. She was active as a choir member, nurture and prayer teams member in Brentwood, Tennessee, and affiliated with Wake Crossroads Baptist Church when in Raleigh.

A private celebration of Alice’s life will be held by the family.

Mrs. Pitman is survived by her sister, Orpha Anderson of Elkview, West Virginia; sons, Thomas James Pitman and wife, Karen, of Morrisville and John Douglas Pitman and wife, Lee Ellen, of Wendell; grandchildren, Lisa Boyd and husband, Jeffery, of Ayden, Michelle Foster of High Point, Laura Pitman of Raleigh, Tricia Hall of Arlington, Virginia, Elizabeth Pitman of Wake Forest, Timothy Pitman and wife, Amy, of Knightdale and Thea Hall of Cary; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and seven brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wake Crossroads Baptist Church Missions Fund or Brentwood Baptist Church “Hope for the World” Missions Fund in Brentwood, Tennessee.
