John D. Allen Jr.

Wake Forest

John Dalphus Allen Jr., 56, of Wake Forest died Monday, March 23, 2015, at Wake Medical Center. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late John Dalphus Allen,Sr. and Edna Smith.

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning at Rollingview Baptist Church in Durham with Pastor Aaron Long officiating. Burial was in the Sykes Family Cemetery.

Mr. Allen is survived by his daughters, Brandy Allen of Raleigh and Ashley Allen of Wake Forest; a son, Blake Ellington of Wake Forest; and numerous cousins.

Shirley F. Humphrey

Raleigh

Shirley Frances Humphrey, 87, of Raleigh passed away Friday, March 20, 2015.

She was born in New Tredegar, Wales, to Glenys Davies and Thomas Kyd, a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy.

At the height of WWII, Shirley met her husband Hugh Humphrey, a B-17 bomber pilot.  Hugh brought Shirley home to the States where they married and raised six children: Tom, Greg, Tricia, Lori, Jim, and Danny.

In her later years, Shirley became an accomplished potter and teacher at Sertoma Arts Center.  Feeding and watching birds and squirrels filled much of Shirley’s spare time.

In addition to her children Shirley is survived by grandchildren, Alana and Josh; brother, Bunny, and nieces, Michelle and Tracy, all of Birmingham, England; and grand-dog, Tizzy.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Judith Wilke Geyer

Wake Forest

Judith Wilke Geyer, 77, of Wake Forest, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died at her home Thursday, March 19, 2015, after a short battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 o’clock Monday morning, March 23, 2015, at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Burial was in Saint Matthew Catholic Church Cemetery.

She was born May 20, 1937, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late Mary L. Rigling Wilke and Frank T. Wilke and attended Our Lady of Cincinnati College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Judy married James M. Geyer in 1958 and together they moved to Syracuse, N.Y., and later settled in the Raleigh/Durham area in 1980. Judy started the Triangle Area Ours adoption group and was a strong advocate for adoptive parents in North Carolina.

Mrs. Geyer is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Geyer; 14 children, Sharon (Bill) Barkley, Lori (Chris) Miller, Christopher (Michele) Geyer, Amy Geyer, Eric (Sarah) Geyer, Julie (Jeff) Rurka, Michelle Geyer, Carrie Geyer, Nicole (Charles) Greene, Shawna Geyer, Kamiko Geyer, Micah Geyer, Joshua Geyer and Michaela Geyer; a sister, Kathleen (Richard) Nichting; 19 grandchildren, Gabriel, Aaron, Amber, Matt, Ryan, Kyle, Yvette, Leah, Logan, Sophia, Isabella, Rachel, Kevin, Harrison, Charlize, Rayah, Arianna, Sanija and Maleah; and two great grandchildren, Colette and Liam.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank John Wilke.

James Ancel Martin

Wake Forest

James Ancel Martin, 79, of Wake Forest, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Evansville, Indiana, the son of the late Ancel Martin and Opal Chambliss Martin.

Jim was married to his high school sweetheart, Betty, for 59 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and spent one year in Korea. He was a computer programmer for IBM for 34 years. Jim served as a deacon at Wakefield Baptist Church before coming to Bay Leaf Baptist Church. He was most proud of building his own home where his family has lived for almost forty years. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Bay Leaf Baptist Church. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Martin; children, Joni Martin and husband, Steve Moore, of Raleigh, Steve Martin and wife, Vickie, of Wendell, Julie Gorge and husband, Phil, of Cary and Brian Martin and wife, Lydia, of Rolesville; grandchildren, Joshua Martin, Melanie and Candice Martin, Alex and Abby Gorge, and Karis, Alissa and Caleb Martin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Delk.

Carl Wilson ‘Will’ Stancil

Wake Forest

Our beloved son, Will, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 23, 2015. Left behind are his devoted father and mother, Ed and Jo Ann; his loving sister, Heather; his aunts, Faye Johnson, Jeannette Ewing, Jan Savage, Darlene Lee, Frances Croft; his uncles, Bill Ewing, Dave Savage, Mike Lee, Cliff Croft; his cousins, Amy Bailey, Carla Savage, Jason Lee, Jarrod Lee, Chris Lee; and numerous other great –aunts and uncles, second cousins and friends.

With Will’s death, we lose someone who loved his family dearly, who cherished his friends daily, who showed love and care to everyone around him and who brought joy for life into every situation. His passing leaves a great hole in our hearts and lives. We give God thanks for the 24 years we had to celebrate life with Will.

Will was a graduate of Sanderson High School (2009), attended Wake Tech, worked for Red Hot & Blue, Cary Reconstruction, ASPCA, Lindsay Precast and the Carolina Ale House.

A funeral service will be at held 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA because of Will’s love of animals or to the Ronald McDonald House because of Will’s love of children.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest.
