James Robert ‘Jimmy’ Turner Jr.

James Robert “Jimmy” Turner, 42, of Raleigh passed away peacefully in his father’s arms on March 7, 2015, at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, N.J. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine and his sister Dawn.

Jimmy is survived by his father, James Robert “Jim” Turner Sr. (Audrey) of Raleigh; housemates, Chris, Geoffrey, Frankie, Marco and Bobby; one niece; and three nephews.

A gathering to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held from 2 to 4  p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest.

 

Mildred G. “Millie” Thompson

Franklinton

Mildred “Millie” Thompson, 89, of Franklinton died Wednesday morning, March 11, 2015, at her residence.

She was born in Brunswick County and was preceded in death by a son, Lee Thompson, and her husband, Sherman Gorrell Thompson.

Millie was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday School Teacher over 20 years, was a WMU Leader and a former deacon. She had been a GA Leader at Millbrook Baptist Church when she lived in Raleigh.

A memorial service honoring her life was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2015, at Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurel Wheeler (Edward) of Franklinton; sons, Allen Thompson (Kathy) of Archer Lodge and Ross Thompson (Darlene) of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister, Rosa Thornton of Kirkland, New Mexico; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
