Dean Alan Collins, 50, of Wake Forest, went to be with his heavenly Lord Saturday, January 31, 2015, after a long battle with cancer.
He resided in Wake County, the son of Marilea Shaw Collins and Carl Junior Collins, and was married to Shannon Ellington Collins. Dean was a member of Glen Royal Baptist Church for 42 glorious years. He has served as a faithful deacon for Glen Royal and also as a devoted Youth Sunday School teacher for multiple years.
A memorial service honoring his life was held at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, February 3, 2015, at Glen Royal Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Faile officiating.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Shannon Collins of Wake Forest; children, Justin Tyler Collins, Margaret Tara Collins, and Andrew Thomas Collins of the home; brothers, Darrell Collins (Kelly), Dwayne Collins, Doug Collins (Terrie); sisters, Donna Marx, Dennette Tomlinson; sisters-in-law, Robin Owens, Amy Baker (Fred); many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved dog Bentley.

Mattie Pearl Tart

Mattie Pearl Tart, 83, of Oak Hill Drive, Franklinton, passed away January 29, 2014. She was born and raised in Henderson, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Williams.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Sunday, February 1, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Collier officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Tart is survived by her son, Steve Alan Tart and wife, Hattie, of Franklinton; daughter, Diane Williams of Stem; grandchildren, Jimmy Williams and wife, Sharon, and Samantha Tart; great-grandchildren, Chloe Rogers, Lucas Williams, and Praley Glenn; brothers, Pete Williams and wife, Christine, of Raleigh and Milton Marks and wife, Linda, of Butner; sisters, Patsy Waite of Henderson, Shannon Beatles and husband, Lacy, of South Boston, Va., and Dorothy Wright of Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie “Bill” Tart and a son, Samuel Tart.

Lizzie Mae Arnold Cash
Raleigh
Lizzie Mae Arnold Cash, 99, of Raleigh, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015, at Universal Healthcare. She was born in Franklin County to the late Willie Arnold and Zanie Pearce Arnold. She was retired from Westinghouse and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, February 4, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in the Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Cash is survived by her daughters, Betty Cash Hamilton of Clayton, Nancy Burgess of Raleigh and Kay Cash Bryant of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Daphine Parrot Cash of Crawfordville, Fla.; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Amos “Pete” Cash, and a by her son, Willie Burton Cash.

Raaleigh
Joseph Norman Miller Sr., of Raleigh, a Vietnam War veteran and retired manufacturers representative, died January 27, 2015, at the Durham VA Medical Center. He was 71.
A native of New York, he was the son of Morris L. and Sally Azzarro Miller. He grew up and was educated in New York City and New Rochelle, N.Y.
Mr. Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in business at UNC-Chapel Hill and graduate degrees at Ohio University and the University of Oregon, where he met his wife.
He worked for many years as a self-employed manufacturers representative.
Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and later in the Air Force Reserve. He attained the rank of captain.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carole Tanzer Miller, of Raleigh; his son, Joseph Miller Jr., of Raleigh; a brother, Alfred James Miller, of Palm Springs, Calif.; and a sister, Laurie Ann Bauer, of Greenwich, Conn.
Family and friends are making donations in his memory to Ruth Sheets Adult Care Center, 228 W. Edenton St., Raleigh, N.C. 27603, or to the Hospice Fund, Durham VA Medical Center, Attention Voluntary Service (135), 508 Fulton St., Durham, NC 27705.
A memorial in his honor was held at 7 p.m. February 3, 2015, at the Ruth Sheets Adult Care Center.

Patricia Gwin ‘Patty’ Namias
Rolesville
Patricia Gwin “Patty” Namias, 59, of Rolesville, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015, with family by her side.
Mrs. Namias was born in Niles, Michigan, and grew up in Metairie, Louisiana, where she attended St. Mary Magdalen Elementary School, Riverdale High School and Jocelyn Daspit Beauty School. In Metairie Mrs. Namias met and later married her childhood sweetheart 41 years ago. Her husband’s job opportunities enabled her to continue touching lives in Atlanta, Georgia, Memphis, Tennessee, and finally Rolesville. She never crossed anyone’s path without leaving a very special piece of herself with them.
In addition to being a devoted wife she was also a devoted Mom. Patty’s unwavering love and support for her son was a constant throughout his childhood, high school, college and adult life. Patty greatly enjoyed the time she spent with friends and family traveling for her son’s football games, and her creative ability was apparent in all that she touched. She was at home on the beach and her most favorite times of all were with her husband and son who filled and completed her beyond anything else.
A Memorial Mass were celebrated at 11 o’clock Saturday January 31, 2015, at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Mrs. Namias is survived by her husband, Ron Namias; son, Nick Namias of Nashville, Tennessee; mother, Lois Fabre Gwin of Kenner, Louisiana; sister, Pam Gwin Deutschmann of Kenner, Louisiana; nieces, Traci D. Regan of River Ridge, Louisiana, Beth D. Pasnewski (Stephen) of Metairie, Louisiana; Julie Deutschmann of Kenner, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Sandy Coleman of New Orleans; nephew, Andrew Olinde of New Orleans; as well as six great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles “Chuck” Gwin; her nephews, Troy Deutschmann and Joshua Olinde; and her father, Gordon Gwin.
