Irene J. Sullivan

Wake Forest

Irene Johnson Sullivan, 78, died Sunday evening, October 19, 2014, at Wake Medical Center. She was born in Johnston County, the daughter of the late Mattie Eliza Bunn Johnson and Ashley Johnson, and was retired from Burlington Industries.

A memorial service will be held at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening, October 22, 2014, at Devine Crossings Baptist Church in Selma with the Rev. Ricky Anderson officiating. The burial will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, October 23, 2014, in the Sullivan Family Cemetery in Selma.

Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert M. Sullivan Jr.; sons, Gary Sullivan and wife, Pat, and Larry Sullivan and wife, Lisa, of Wake Forest; daughter, Robin Casey and husband, Charles, of Louisburg; a sister, Josephine Wall and husband, Doug, of Archer Lodge; brothers, James Johnson, Johnny Johnson and wife, Dora Mae, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Erin Stewart and husband, Phillip, and Daniel Casey; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Audrey Stewart.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Devine Crossings Baptist Church Building Fund, 440 Little Devine Road, Selma, NC 27576.

Peggy Rich Spence

Peggy Rich Spence, 82, died Sunday morning, October 19, 2014. She died surrounded by her daughters after many years of declining health.

Peggy was born in Wilson. Her family moved to Raleigh soon afterwards. She grew up amid a large extended family. She graduated from Hugh Morrison High School in 1950 and attended Peace College. She worked at State College (NCSU), Wachovia Bank, and at Wiley Elementary School, where she made many good friends. Peggy retired in 1986 to spend more time with her children and grandchildren.

Peggy was a remarkable, intelligent woman. She was forthright in her opinions and protective of her children. She was a skilled cook, event planner, decorator, seamstress, and a master organizer. She was extremely creative and enjoyed painting, gardening, camping, reading and shopping.  She was a devoted wife to her husband of 58 years, Charles, and to her close friends, who in turn, loved her.

She is survived by her four daughters: Cheryl Warren of Goldsboro and husband, Reed, Donna Poole of Wake Forest and husband, Joey, Charlsie Barbrey of Zebulon and husband, Pete, and Lara Fricke of Raleigh and husband, Bryan. Peggy had nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, and Stephen Warren; Hannah, Lindsay, and Charlie Poole, Kathryn and Matthew Parker; Elise Fricke, and Paige and Hunter Barbrey.  She also has many cousins, friends and caregivers who survive her, as well as a chihuahua, Lucy.

A memorial service was held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2100 Noble Road, Raleigh, NC 27608 on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 2 p.m.

Alma Lee Tabor

Youngsville

Alma Lee Ray Tabor, 74, died Saturday morning, October 18, 2014,at the William Dunlap Center for Caring. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Junious and Ola Keith Ray,and was the retired cafeteria manager of Fox Road Elementary School.

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Monday morning, October 20, 2014,in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Merle Martin officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Tabor is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Tabor; son, Andy Tabor and wife, Angel, of Youngsville; sister, Nancy Ann Riggs and husband, Paul, of Durham; brother, Eugene Ray and wife, Frankie, of Raleigh; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Life Care (Hospice of Wake County), 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27606-6372.

Pallbearers were Jerome Riggs, Norm Scoggins, Mike Ray and Larry Estes.

Arthur J. Schneller Sr.

Wake Forest

Arthur John Schneller Sr., 86, died Friday morning, October 17, 2014, at his home. He was born in Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Mary Kaufman Schneller and Otto John Schneller, and was a retired forklift mechanic with Gaylord Containers.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, October 22, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Thomas officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Schneller is survived by his sons, Kenneth H. Schneller of Wake Forest, Arthur John “A.J.” Schneller Jr. and wife, Courtney, of Franklinton, Clarence T. Schneller of Wake Forest and Harold W. Schneller and wife, Melissa, of Wake Forest; sisters, Eleanor Turnbull and Edna Sandham and husband, Murray, of Ontario, Canada; brother-in-law, Bryce Smith of Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Arthur John Schneller III, Brooke Hutcheson, Mary Brooke Sutton, Cameron Schneller, Austin Schneller, Zachary Schneller, Josh Schneller, Jena Schneller, and Haley Schneller; and great-grandchild, Tristan Hutcheson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Crabtree Schneller and by his siblings, Esther S. Smith, Harold T. Schneller, and Clarence W. Schneller.

Pallbearers were Trey Schneller, Cameron Schneller, Josh Schneller, Zachary Schneller, Jimmy Pearce, and Ricky O’Neal.

Carol Edwards Jackson

Wake Forest

Carol Edwards Jackson, 69, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Rex Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Forest Daniel Edwards and Eula Creech Edwards. She was a member of New Light Church of God and was retired from the State of North Carolina as an Administrative Secretary.

Carol loved her family, and she showed them that love by always sacrificing her needs so that they could have. From the time she learned of her sickness in January 2009 until her last breath, she showed her complete trust and faith in God by living a life devoted to telling others about God. She would always say that “God has a plan.” She told her sons, “This is a cross I have to bear, but I’ve told God that where He leads I’ll follow.”

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Monday morning October 20, 2014 at New Light Church of God with the Rev. Robbin K. Taylor officiating. Burial was in Montlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her sons, Rev. Randy Jackson and wife, Julie, of Estill Springs, Tennessee, and Dean Jackson of Wake Forest; grandchildren; Kimberlie Jackson, Taylor Jackson and Zachary Jackson, all of Estill Springs, Tennessee; mother-in-law, Tessie Jackson of Wake Forest; nephews, Allen Jenkins and Robert Jenkins, both of Wake Forest, Gary Edwards of Youngsville and Tony Edwards of Durham; nieces, Amy Nipper of Wake Forest and Angie Edwards of Youngsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Jackson Jr., and a brother, Harold Edwards.

Pallbearers were Allen Jenkins, Robert Jenkins, Gary Edwards, Tony Edwards, Roy Bailey, and Carlton Bailey.
