Jake Lee Creep

Jake Lee Creep, age 32, beloved son, brother, nephew, and uncle left this earth far too soon and totally unexpected. Jake will forever be remembered for his kind heart, caring ways, love of the outdoors, nature, and the notorious adventure seeker that he was.

Jake was born on July 24, 1991 in Raleigh, NC. He was a 2010 Graduate of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School and attended Cape Fear Community College. Jake was a hard worker and held positions as a salesman at Hollingsworth Auto Sales, Arborist, Landscape Tree Climber, and Horse trainer.  

Jake was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed being outside wherever he could. He was caring, loving, had a sensitive heart, was always there to help others in need, animal lover, his jokester ways – picking on his sisters, and a strong protector of his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Samuel Creep; sister, Hope Creep; maternal grandparents; Doris and Charles Inners; and maternal uncle, Dr. Charles R. Inners.

He is survived by his parents, Joann and Guy Creep; Jessica Creep; sister, Julianna and Joy Creep (his twin sisters); Kaylee Hayles, niece; paternal grandparents, Michael and Judy Kowalski; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who are all extremely heartbroken over this great loss.

A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Trotter officiating. A visitation will follow the service from 5-6:30 PM at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Lillian Ann (Gabby) Hayes Robbins

Louisburg

Lillian Ann (Gabby) Hayes Robbins, loving mother, Nanny, sister, aunt and friend passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024. Gabby was the first of nine children born to Plummer and Bernice Hayes on February 23, 1938.

Gabby never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. Her care and compassion were only surpassed by her hard work ethics, determination and drive. She worked at Butner Hospital where she met and married her husband, Eric Tipton Robbins in 1959. In 1964, her true love was born, Michael T. Robbins, that is until he and Mary had their son, Jesse Robbins. She worked with Dr. Stacy Miller in his Raleigh dermatology practice as his nurse for over 40 years and continued a few years with Dr. Thomas Andrus. As years progressed and disabilities arose, she never stopped. She continued to cook, crochet, and collect many items!

Gabby is predeceased by her parents, Plummer and Bernice Hayes, husband, Eric, sister, Jean Hilton and brother, George (Wayne) Hayes.

She is survived by her son, Mike (Mary) Robbins, grandson. Jesse; sisters, Cora Whitt, Barbara (June) Wilson, Marjorie Hayes, and Nancy Ray; brothers, Roger and Fleming Hayes and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Janie Pearce for her care and friendship during this time.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremiah Baker officiating, 1529 Flat Rock Church Rd. Louisburg, NC 27549.

Family and friends will be received at her home after the service.

Mattie Frazier Cash

Youngsville

Mattie Frazier Cash, 88, of Youngsville, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Johnnie Wheeler Frazier and Henry Kenneth Frazier and was a life-long member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.

Mattie retired from Duke Hospital in Durham, NC.  She enjoyed sewing, tending her flower gardens and the occasional chocolate milkshake.

 Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2024, at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Benny Woodlief (Linda), Deborah Pearce (Larry) and Charles Woodlief;  her grandchildren, April Merritt, David Woodlief (Erin), Kenny Woodlief Jr., Marci Ginn (Josh), Reagan Morris, Amy Sheets (David), Erica Woodlief, Katie Bartholmew, Kimberly Woodlief, Camille Cason (Daniel), and Brittany Woodlief (Ken); her sister, Mary Cash; sister-in-law, Rowena Frazier; many loving great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Cash; a son, Kenny Woodlief (LeeAnne) and by a daughter, Charlotte Bartholmew (Ken).    

Friends may visit with the family prior to the service on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1:00pm – 2:30pm in the Flat Rock Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the Flat Rock Baptist Church Building Fund, 1529 Flat Rock Church Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.

Winnie Mae Selvidge

Wake Forest

Winnie Mae Selvidge was born in 1941 in Atwood, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully with her children by her side May 1, 2024 in Raleigh, NC.

Winnie grew up and lived in Oklahoma most of her life.  She then moved to Raleigh, NC in 1987 where she made her home with her daughter’s family.  Her greatest joy was her family.  After retiring from Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic after 20 years, she loved spending time volunteering at Bay Leaf Baptist Church where she delivered flowers and sat with the homebound, volunteered for church events such as serving meals, making packages for mission trips and Easter Egg Hunts.

Winnie is survived by her children, Cecil Winkle (Mary), Lynda Hulsey (John); grandchildren, Keith Winkle (Kathy), Steven Hulsey (Elizabeth), Corey Hulsey (Emily), Crystal Winkle; greatgrandchildren, Holden Hawk, Kurt Winkle, Lilly Hulsey, Tyler Hulsey, Abigail Hulsey, Liam Winkle, Wesley Hulsey, Vera Winkle along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her father, Oather Allen; mother, Bernice Allen; brothers, Frank Allen and Thomas Allen; sisters, Virginia Allen, Velma Crawford, Bennie Jones, Rosemary Cellars, and Beverly York.

Ann H. Schirmann

Raleigh

Ann H. Schirmann, 92, of Raleigh, North Carolina died Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

  She was born in Wake Forest, NC and was the daughter of Waldo and Bettie Hagwood.  She held various managerial positions over the years, was President of the Shrinettes for Wake County Shriners.

In recent years was a 2 term Deacon from 2013 to 2018 at North Raleigh Presbyterian Church, served on the Resident’s Council, Librarian, and Church coordinator for Abbotswood @ Stonehenge.

  Ann is survived by her brother Harry Hagwood, daughter Deborah Cameron and husband Michael Cameron of Raleigh, sons, Mark Schirmann and wife Raquel Schirmann of Castle Rock, Colorado and Rick Schirmann of Jacksonville, Fl; grandchildren, Stephen Adams and wife Cynthia Adams, Scott Cameron and wife Caitlin Cameron, Deborah Schirmann and husband Sean Dickey, Nicolas Schirmann, Jonathan Schirmann, Christopher Schirmann, Gabrielle Schirmann, Cheyenne Schirmann; great grandchildren, Sienna Adams, Santiago Adams, Everly Dickey, Sadie Cameron, Scottie Cameron; niece Betty Ann Hobbs.

A funeral service was conducted on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest, NC. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Burial followed the service in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert Anthony ‘Tony’ ‘Papa’ Pace

Robert Anthony “Tony” “Papa” Pace, age 67, born May 14, 1956, in Wilson, NC, passed away on April 30, 2024, in Garner, NC.  He was a long-time resident of Charlotte, NC. 

Tony was preceded in death by his father Bobby Pace, sister Christy Roberts, and granddaughter Josephine Mitchell.

Tony is survived by his wife Ellen Pace, mother and stepfather Phyllis and David Stein, sister and brother-in-law Charlie and Wanda Cureton, stepson Ronnie Mitchell and wife Cara Mitchell, stepdaughter Laura Evans and husband Ralph Evans, and grandchildren Benjamin Evans, Audrey Evans, Alyssa Evans, and Margaret Pippin Mitchell. 

Tony was an exceptional musician.  He was self-taught at 15, playing multiple instruments throughout his career.  Tony’s most recent band was Right to Party out of Charlotte, NC.  Tony was previously a long-time owner and musician for the Fabulous Kays.  Tony was known as Tony Pace on the Bass.

Tony loved music, fishing, his pets, and Family.  He met his beloved wife, Ellen Pace in Charlotte, NC. They were married June 20, 1999, in Belmont, NC.  He became a stepfather to Ronnie Mithcell out of Charlotte, NC, and Laura Evans, out of Cary, NC.  He became a Papa in 2006 with his first grandchild Benjamin Evans, and later became a Papa to four granddaughters, Audrey and Alyssa Evans, Margaret Pippin and Josephine Mitchell.  When Tony was not managing a band, Tony would be taking his grandchildren fishing or playing online games with them.

A celebration of life will be held later.
