Daniel Brooks Harris

Daniel Brooks Harris, 67, of Franklinton went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Duke Raleigh Hospital. He was born in Murray County, Tennessee, to the late Mack B. Harris and Sarah Goslin Harris. He was the owner and operator of D.B. Harris & Sons Landscaping Inc. for over 30 years and was a member of North Raleigh Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014, at North Raleigh Church of Christ, 8701 Falls of the Neuse Road, Raleigh.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Gracie Harris; children, Steve Harris and wife, Swati, of Raleigh, Tracie Harris Rice and husband, Brian, of Raleigh, and Mike Harris and wife, Lisa, of Youngsville; brothers, Ray Harris and Alan Harris; sisters, Mary Lou West and Faye Hinson; and grandchildren, Sydney, Jackson and Walker Harris.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening, September 4, 2014, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest.

Genevieve “Gennie” Harrison

Genevieve “Gennie” Lovelace Harrison, 91, of Wake Forest passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Hillside Nursing Center. She was born in Castro County, Texas, to the late Irion “Doc” Lovelace and Geneva Savage Lovelace. Mrs. Harrison was the head nurse for the first neonatal intensive care unit for Shawnee Medical Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and retired after 20-plus years of service.

A memorial service was held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Stewart Lampkin officiating.

Mrs. Harrison is survived by her children, Tom Harrison and wife, Gaylene, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jim Harrison and wife, Dorie, of Antioch, Illinois, Liz Harrison of Louisburg and Lynda Rider and husband, Rick, of Louisburg; and 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Milton Harrison.

Lola Comer Upton

March 16, 1934 – August 28, 2014

Lola Comer Upton, 80, of Wake Forest went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2014. Lola passed away surrounded by her loving family.

She showed her grace and courage while battling cancer for the last seventeen months and will always be remembered for her dedication and love for her family and friends. Born and raised in Randolph County, Lola was the daughter of the late Coy L. and Florence Garner Comer. She was a long-time member of Needham’s Grove Baptist Church in Seagrove and most recently attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Wake Forest.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, August 30, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Julian Motley and the Rev. Arnold Comer officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Upton is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Jack T. Upton. She leaves behind two sons, Dr. Kevin Comer Upton and wife, Mitzi, and Jerome Thomas Upton and wife, Sherry, all of Wake Forest; four grandchildren, Samuel Upton of Charlotte and Martha, Graham, and Emma Upton. Lola is survived by six siblings, Mittie Williamson, Evelyn Caviness, Helen Ritter, Betty Caviness, Carroll Comer (wife, Lynda) and Arnold Comer (wife, Patsy).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Ethel Kennedy, Edith Yow, Tracy Comer, Bill Comer, Mattie Needham, and Ted Comer; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Comer, and Juanita Comer; seven brothers-in-law, Ollie Williamson, Fred Yow, Colon Kennedy, Alton Needham, Clarence Caviness, J.B. Ritter, and Fred Caviness. She was blessed to have numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the special caregivers who have devoted themselves to her care during her illness and the support provided by neighbors.

Eula Perry Wright

Eula Perry Wright, 92, of Franklinton died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Hillside Nursing Center. She was born in Granville County, the daughter of the late Mattie and Lee Perry, and was married to John T. Wright Jr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Wright was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

A graveside funeral service was held at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon, August 29, 2014, at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Hunter officiating.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her daughter, Linda Payne and husband, Jimmy, of Franklinton; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Joe Wright and wife, Leah, of Franklinton; and special friends, Bill and Jean Fortune of Wake Forest. She was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Keith, and by her brother, Mark Perry.
