Robert McNeil Smith

Wake Forest

Robert McNeil Smith, born September 15, 1949 in Glasgow Scotland, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 5th , 2023 at his home in Wake Forest North Carolina, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bobby immigrated to Toronto in 1965 with his parents Isabella and George Smith (predeceased), which is where he pursued his passion for the arts by attending the Ontario College of Art and Design. While attending college he developed his wanderlust that sent him backpacking through Europe, providing him the opportunity to discover, experience and enjoy all that Europe had to offer in the early 70s. His love of travel and the outdoors led him to his beautiful wife of over 27 years Linda. Together they shared their love for travel, hiking, biking and time together in their mountain house. Rob enjoyed being active and remained so throughout his life, partaking in everything from cycling to soccer. He was a loyal supporter of the Rangers FC and unfortunately for him, the cursed Toronto Maple Leafs.

Rob’s outgoing nature along with his incredible sense of humor made him instantly relatable and familiar to those who had the pleasure of meeting him, which undoubtedly helped him as entrepreneur of his own business as a dangerous goods specialist; he was the kind of person that you may have just met, but made you feel like an old friend. He was a loving father to his four children Martin, Pascale, Emma and Sophie and is survived by his brother David and grandkids George, Lucie, Theodore and Emmet.

Donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders in Roberts honor.
