Anna Elisabetha Albinus

Wake Forest

Anna Elisabetha Albinus, 82, died Thursday, October 18, 2018, at her home. She was born May 14, 1936 in Germany to the late Adam and Sophia Hotz Albrecht. Anna was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Albinus in 2007; a brother, Helmut Albrecht; and a son-in-law, William Alberts.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2018, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest. Burial  followed in Wake Forest Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Annamarie Alberts of Dallas, Texas and Irene Kress and husband, Robert, of Raleigh; five grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew Alberts, Bryan, Connor and Matthew Kress; and a sister, Ellen Albrecht of Germany.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 520 West Holding Avenue, Wake Forest, NC 27587 or to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Betty Ann Sibley Horky

Wake Forest

Betty Ann Sibley Horky, 87, of Wake Forest passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Avendelle at Carlton Pointe Residential Care Center in Rolesville. She was born June 22, 1931 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of the late John and Esther Sibley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Carol Rittner and Sue Elliott, and her brother John Sibley Jr. She was a registered nurse, graduating from Louisiana State University. She then served as a lieutenant JG in the U.S. Navy. She was stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia, when she met her future husband, Bob.

Betty was very active in her church. She took communion to the sick, helped start the Ladies Guild and Threads of Love. She also loved to cook, travel, and entertain, as well as she loved reading, playing card games and doing needlepoint. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Horky; three children, Robert Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Flat Rock, Kathy Horky of Wake Forest and Donald and his wife, Julie, of Suffolk, Virginia; four grandchildren, Adam Horky and his wife, Kathryn, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Samantha Horky of Columbia, South Carolina, Katelyn Horky of Suffolk, Virginia, and Sarah Horky Eads and her husband, Dan, of Nebraska; four great-grandchildren, Adam Horky’s children, Chloe and Matthew Horky, and Sarah Horky Eads’ children, Lyla and Beau; and two siblings, Lucille Sibley of New Orleans and David and his wife, Diane Sibley, of Kenner, Louisiana.

Betty’s Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest. The Ladies Guild will host a luncheon immediately following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations in Betty’s name to either, St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 520 West Holding Avenue, Wake Forest, NC 27587 or Heartland Hospice, 4505 Falls of Neuse Road, #650, Raleigh, NC 27609.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018, with a rosary service to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Bright Funeral Home.

Carolyn Holden Odham

Wake Forest

Carolyn Holden Odham, 76, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018. She was born January 9, 1942 to the late Hubert and Mary Baxter Holden. She worked for many years as an office manager at Green & Wooten Insurance Company in Wake Forest.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, as well as two brothers, Hubert L. and Joseph Leroy Holden, a sister, Rita H. Whitt and a granddaughter, Kayla Hertel.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Pine Forest Memorial Garden in Wake Forest. The Rev. Gary Vassar and the Rev. Tom Jenkins will co-officiate.

Surviving are a daughter, Tracie Lynn Odham of Wake Forest; three grandchildren, Kristi, Cameron and Jordan; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis, Hayley and Scarlett.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 pm. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Bright Funeral Home.

Dorothy ‘Dottie’ N. Sturges

Wake Forest

Dorothy “Dottie” N. Sturges, 79, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at her home. She was born March 7, 1939 in Alabama.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Dennis of Shannon, Alabama, and a sister-in-law, Clara Dennis of Foley, Alabama.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Friday, October 26, 2018, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest. Pastor Steve Tillis will officiate, and burial will follow in Wake Forest Cemetery.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Allan Edward Sturges of Wake Forest; mother, Addie Dennis of Shannon, Alabama; three daughters, Kim Andersen and husband, Marcus, of Monterey, California, Pamela Houston and her husband, Robert of Suffolk, Virginia, and Sheree Mobley of Blackshear, Georgia; two brothers, Gary Dennis of Foley, Alabama and Ralph Dennis and wife, Beth, of Shannon, Alabama; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Brodey.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, at Bright Funeral Home.

Wanda G. Barham

Youngsville

Wanda G. Barham, 61, of Youngsville died on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Iva Mae Tart Barham and William Jasper “Red” Barham.

Wanda was an assembler with Total Fire Systems Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, October 25, 2018, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Beulah Christian Baptist Church Cemetery.

Wanda is survived by her sister, Sharon Davis and her husband, Danny, of Louisburg; nieces, Courtney Perez and her husband, Fernando, of Snow Hill, Connie Kidd of Bunn and Dayla Jones and her husband, Brad, of Rolesville; and nephews, D.J. Davis and his wife, Merri, of Louisburg , Billy Hawks and his wife, Elizabeth, of Bunn.

Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon before the funeral.

Sylvia Jeane Walters

Sylvia Jeane Walters, 82, of Wake Forest, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Hillside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Franklin County to the late Henry Morris Hunt and Marjorie Dean Manning Hunt.

A graveside service will be held at 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon, October 25, 2018, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Walters is survived by her children, William Edward Rhodes of Gates, Tennessee, Lori Walters Taylor and husband, Coleman, of Youngsville and Timothy Wayne Walters of Hampstead; and grandchildren, Mickey Rhodes and Timothy Lee Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Loren Walters.
