James Ruffin Jackson

James Ruffin Jackson, 60, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, in Raleigh. He was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina, a son of Henry Jackson and Lucy (Carter) Jackson. He was loved deeply by his family and was a friend to all. He enjoyed fishing and supporting the church, especially through youth programs.
A committal service was held Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Flat Rock Baptist Church.
A memorial service was held Sunday, March 4, at North Raleigh Church of Christ, 701 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh. The family had a time of visitation before the memorial service.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Jackson; children, Carey Ruffin Jackson and Billie Jackson Burdis and husband, Joe; sister, Janet Jackson Gorham and husband, Kevin; brothers-in-law, Jay Stainback and wife, Juliet, and James Stainback and wife, Debbie; father-in-law, Bill Stainback; and many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his brother, Michael Leroy Jackson.

Taylor Shane Allen

Taylor Shane Allen, 23, died suddenly Monday, February 26, 2018. Taylor was born September 4, 1994 in Raleigh to Clay Allen and Stephanie Hartman.
Taylor’s graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Pine Forest Memorial Garden in Wake Forest.
Surviving are his mother, Stephanie Rivers of Louisburg; his father, Clay Allen and wife, Christie, of Durham; his step-father, Chris Rivers of Warrenton; Taylor’s fiance’, Lindsey Scott; step-son, Wyatt Scott; two brothers, Dylan Allen of Durham and Trey Rivers of Louisburg; grandparents, Ann Allen of Durham, Rudy & Rita Allen of Virginia, Brent and Kathleen Thomas of Louisburg, Steve and Joyce Hartman of Iowa, Paige Bobbitt of Norlina and June Pearce of Cary; great-grandmother, Sharon Alm of Iowa; aunts and uncles, Tony and Shannon Thomas of Wake Forest, Trent and Shannon Coleman of Spring Hope, Evelyn Shearin of Norlina, Tim and Kim Sullivan of Maryland, Rudy Allen of Virginia and Chesnee Allen of Virginia; and many great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Bright Funeral Home.

Nathan Sternagle
Wake Forest
Nathan Taylor Sternagle, 29, passed away February 27, 2018. He was born May 6, 1988, the son of Tina Marcy and Richard Sternagle. A lifelong resident of Wake Forest, Nathan was a graduate of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School, class of 2006. He attended UNC Charlotte and studied computer science.
Nathan had an incredible sense of humor and a love for animals and music. He was an avid sports fan and wrestled in high school.
He is survived by his mother, Tina Marcy; father, Richard Sternagle; step-mother, Judy Sternagle; step-father, Glenn Marcy; his loving fiancée, Nicole Baker; his daughter, Skylar Grace Sternagle; his brother, Justin Staley; and his sisters, Nicole Sternagle, Elizabeth Marcy, and Melissa Marcy. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A private celebration of Nathan’s life will be held for family and close friends.

Lewis Edwin Watson IV
Raleigh
Lewis Edwin Watson IV (Lew), age 48, passed away on February 26, 2018 after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born on March 14, 1969 in Lenoir, where he grew up and attended Hibriten High School. He graduated from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1991 with a bachelor of science in business management. While at UNCW, he served in ROTC and was commissioned upon graduation, later earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Lew had a deep love for his family, friends, community and God. He enjoyed coaching Pop Warner with the Wake Forest Titans where his sons played football and his daughter cheered. He was a charter member of Wakefield United Methodist Church in Raleigh where he served in multiple ministry leadership roles. He was a cherished member of the Wakefield community where he made lifelong friends. In addition, he enjoyed a 22-year career with Systel Office Automation in Raleigh where he established lasting relationships with much loved friends.
Lew was a wonderful husband and father and loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife, Leigh Ragan Watson; sons, Luke and Matt; daughters, Sarah and Lana, of the home; mother, Jennifer Hedrick of Lenoir; father and stepmother, Lewis and Ninette Watson of Columbia, South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Heath and Crystal Watson (nieces Savannah and Carleigh) of Lenoir; and brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Ann Grubbs (nieces Abby and Lily) of Youngsville. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Hedrick and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Watson Jr. of Lenoir.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Wake Forest United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

John Ellis Wooten III
Wake Forest
John Ellis Wooten III, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Wake County, the son of Shirley Sanderlin Wooten and the late John Ellis Wooten Jr.
John, a graduate of Campbell University and lifelong resident of Wake Forest, owned and managed the Green and Wooten Insurance Agency. He was a faithful member of the Wake Forest Baptist Church, sharing his love of gardening with the Community Garden Ministry, and he enjoyed singing with the Chancel Choir and Men’s Chorus. John was an active member of the Wake Forest Rotary Club. His love of fishing and Carolina basketball was only exceeded by his love for the Lord, his family and his friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, March 8, 2018, at the Wake Forest Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Slater officiating. A private burial will be held at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Thompson Wooten; his sons, John E. Wooten IV and wife, Kristine, of Raleigh and Michael T. Wooten of Wake Forest; mother, Shirley Sanderlin Wooten of Wake Forest; sister, Shirley Katherine “Kate” Forgeng and husband, Joe, of Raleigh; and brother, William S. “Bill” Wooten and wife, Terry, of Clarksville, Virginia.
