Mary Davis Larson

Mary Davis Larson, 93, formerly of Raleigh, passed away on January 6, 2018 in Lilburn, Georgia. Mrs. Larson was born in Clarkton to the late Charles Thompson Davis Sr. and Elma Baldwin Davis.
She is survived by her three children, Becky Crofton Larson of Raleigh, John (Alison) Larson of Glen Allen, Virginia, and Karen (James) Kirkwood of Lilburn; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; along with two sisters, Elma Grace Long of Raleigh and Margaret (George) Reed of McKinney, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband John David “Jack” Larson, Jr., M.D.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, January 13, 2018, at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Bay Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery.

David William Burton

David William Burton, 60, passed away on Sunday evening, January 14, 2018, at the Carolina Point Nursing Center in Durham. He was born in England, the son of the late Gwyneth Greenstock Burton and Jimmy R. Burton.
A funeral service was held at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, January 16, 2018, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Ferrell officiating.
Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Dianna Ferrell Burton; his children, William Trent Burton, Jenny B. Haynes and husband, Corey, David William Burton II and wife, Samantha Duca Burton; brothers, Philip Burton and Ricky Burton; grandchildren, Tyler William Burton, Carson Haynes, Cadien Haynes and Kelsey Haynes.

Stephen Ryan Bridgland

Stephen Ryan Bridgland was born in Gainesville, Florida, August 15, 1957. He went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2018, leaving behind a wonderful wife, Becky Bridgland, and their four children, from oldest to youngest, Chelsea Griggs who is married to Zachary Griggs, Baylee Bridgland, Nicholas Bridgland and Stephanie Bridgland.
He is also survived by his mother, Helen Bridgland, and his brothers, Jeff and Michael Bridgland and their families.
Steve was a funny, loving, protective, Godly, and forever loved husband, father, brother and friend. He is missed and loved but we rejoice in knowing that he is with his Savior.

Julia Anne Rogers, 77, of Brentwood, Maryland died January 5, 2018 at the Hospice House of St. Mary County, Callaway, Maryland.
She was born January 9, 1940 in Wake County, the daughter of Fred Day Rogers and Pauline Clarice Hagwood Rogers of Rolesville.
Funeral services were held at the Rolesville Baptist Church on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Burial followed in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Clarice Hagwood Rogers; her father, Fred Day Rogers; her sister, Patricia Rogers Brady Clark; her granddaughter, Denise Anne Finamore; her grandson, Joseph Warren Bryant II; and great-grandson, Jonathan Michael Maness.
She is survived by her ex-husband, Ralph (Sonny) Lindamood Jr.; three children, Dennis Eugene Lindamood, Karen Elaine Bryant and Douglas Wayne Lindamood; her six grandchildren, Jessica and Rachel Lindamood, Dyanna, Mike Finamore, Douglas, Jeffrey Lindamood; her 15 great-grandchildren, Liam and Jerrick, Jackson and Elaina Brown, Bryce Tlucka, Hunter Thompson, Kayleigh, Alexis, Victoria Finamore, Joseph Bryant III, Harley Bryant and Keiko Bryant, Jake and Shelby Lindamood and Brandon Lindamood; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lettie “BooBoo” Pierce

Lettie “BooBoo” Pierce, 72, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Nash County, the daughter of the late Lillian Irene Hudgins Harlow and Algie C. Harlow. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pierce Jr.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon January 12, 2018, at Richland Creek Community Church. Burial followed in the Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Pierce is survived by her daughter, Vivian Billmyer and husband, Todd, of Rolesville; a son, James A. Pierce III and wife, Jennifer, of New Mexico; a brother, Coppedge Harlow and wife, Beanie, of Enfield; grandchildren, Meagan Leonard and husband, Eric, Karleigh Pierce, Kayla Pierce, Natalie Pierce and Jack Billmyer; a step-granddaughter, Naomi Bridwell; and great-grandchildren, Noah Heath, Loralei Leonard and Mabry Leonard.

Corella Mae Romada

Corella Mae Romada, 79, died on Saturday evening, January 6, 2018, at Hillside Nursing Center. She was born in Belmont County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Cilda Belle Belles and Homer Belles.
Mrs. Romada was a retired sales clerk with J.C. Penny. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Davis.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning, January 11, 2018, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Romada is survived by her husband of 57 years whom she married on Thanksgiving Day in 1960, Michael Romada; a son, Keith Romada and wife, Patti, of Wake Forest; a daughter, Kellie Romada of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kyle and Derek Romada of Wake Forest; and a brother, Jake Belles and wife, Billie, of Bridgeport, Ohio.

Jerry Daniel Wilkins

Jerry Daniel Wilkins, 78, passed away on Monday evening, January 8, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Durham County, the son of the late Virginia Taylor Wilkins and Huey Daniel Wilkins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Sykes Wilkins, and a son Kenneth “Ken” Wilkins.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon January 11, 2018 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Perry officiating. Burial followed in the Sykes Family Cemetery.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Pattie Ferrell and husband David, Faye Daniel and husband, Greg; a son, Steve Wilkins and wife, Sylvia; a sister, Joyce Carnell grandchildren, Stevie Wilkins, Eddie Wilkins, Shelby Ferrell and Thomas Ferrell; and a great-grandchild, Peyton Wilkins.

Dorothy Highfill Hussey

Dorothy Highfill Hussey, 93, of Wake Forest and Greensboro passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. Born in High Point in 1924, she was the middle of five children of Viria and Ewell Highfill.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wallace and Roy Highfill, and her sisters, Hazel Pulley and Ruth Johnson, and her beloved husband, Jack W. Hussey Sr.
She met Jack when she was in junior high school and he was a four-letterman at High Point High School. She was one of the first majorettes at High Point High School. She loved to dance and she and Jack were members of several dance clubs.
Jack enlisted in the U.S. Marines for World War II while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his degree after his discharge in 1946. Jack and Dorothy married in December 1947. Jack was signed by the Boston Red Sox, but was called to participate in the Korean War since he was in the military reserves. He never got to play for the Red Sox.
Jack and Dorothy moved to California when he was called for the Korean War. Jack junior was born in 1951. After the war Jack resigned and moved his family to Raleigh and signed with the Raleigh Caps Baseball Club.
Dorothy and Jack lived in Goldsboro for most of their marriage where they raised Jack Jr. Dorothy was a claims adjuster for Maryland Casualty for 32 years. She was involved in the Women’s Republican Party, president of Wayne County Women’s Club, Pilot Club member and Wayne County Heart Association volunteer.
After Jack’s death in 1985, Dorothy moved to Greensboro to be near her beloved sister, Ruth Johnson. While in Greensboro, she worked for the Greensboro Auto Auction. She was an avid bridge player and a member of the Red Hatter’s Club. She enjoyed shopping with her sister to expand her wardrobe, shoes, purses and household belongings.
Dorothy has always been very involved in health and wellness especially where food and vitamins are concerned. She maintained a large number of friends. Ruth made sure there were 90 people at Dorothy’s 90th birthday.
She is survived by her son, Jack Hussey Jr., daughter-in-law, Connie Hussey, and grandson, Travis Hussey.
After a private family commitment service, there will be a celebration of Dorothy’s life at the Grandover Hotel, 1000 Club Road, Greensboro at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018.
