Larry Pittman Matthews Sr.

Larry Matthews reunited with his wife Mabrey (“Larry! Where have you been?!”) on Christmas Eve and spent Christmas in the presence of the Lord with her and others who have gone before him. He was born in Harnett County, but resided in Raleigh most of his life. He was a faithful member of Neuse Baptist Church for fifty years.
He is survived by sons Larry Jr. (Burnita) and Marty (Marta); grandsons Shane (Kellie) and Justin (Laurie); four great-grandsons; brother-in-law, John (Belinda); sisters-in-law, Christine, Dorothy, and Cora Lee; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by five brothers, Bruce, Robert, Thomas, and two infants.
Larry had a charm and wit about him that won the hearts of many. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staffs of ICU and 4-East at Rex Hospital and Brookdale North Raleigh.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, December 28, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Claire Elise Endicott
Youngsville
Claire Elise Endicott, 21, of Youngsville passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at UNC-CH Children’s Hospital following a long and courageous battle with cystic fibrosis.
Claire was born on January 2, 1996 to Brian and Kimberly Endicott. Claire was the official first baby born in 1996 in her hometown of Coldwater, Michigan. Claire began the fight against cystic fibrosis at birth and continued that fight with one battle after another. Throughout the daily struggle against cystic fibrosis, Claire persevered and showed the world her strength, courage, bravery, incredible willpower to live, stubbornness, and wit with a contagious smile and laughter that made everyone around her know that she was a true hero to be admired and adored. Claire never met a stranger and made many friends on-line and everywhere she went. She inspired us all with her wit, charm, compassion, empathy, moral compass, and courage.
Claire was an exceptional artist and used her artistic talents to raise cystic fibrosis awareness, express herself, and to help others. Claire loved the color purple, art, anime, gaming, cosplay, penguins, unique and interesting fashion especially hats, music including Panic At The Disco and Florence and The Machine, walking at Target when her strength allowed it and eating ice cream at Dairy Queen when she had the opportunity.
Claire is survived by: her parents, Brian and Kimberly Endicott; her sister, Caytlin Endicott; her brothers, Ryan Endicott, Alexander Endicott, and Patrick Endicott; her grandmother, Maureen Endicott; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; her lifelong love and boyfriend, Kaleb Brewer; and friends that are too numerous to mention.
A remembrance service was held Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Bright Funeral Home. Claire’s family requested that attendees dress informally and wear something purple because that was her favorite color and is also the color that represents cystic fibrosis to honor her memory.
Clare’s burial took place Friday, December 29, 2017, at Wake Forest Cemetery.

A very special Thank You to Dr. Margaret Leigh who was with Claire from the time of diagnosis at 3 years old until the day of her passing. Thank you to Dr. Leigh’s’ staff at the UNC Pediatric Pulmonology Clinic, the Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Team, the staff on the 5th Floor of UNC-CH Children’s Hospital, the staff on the UNC–CH Pediatric ICU, UNC Home Health, Wellcare, and to all of those not mentioned that helped Claire over the years. They have become a part of Claire’s’ family and are greatly appreciated.
Claire will be missed greatly and loved forever more than words can say.

Sally Jo Ann Rezinas was born in Shelbyville, Illinois on November 3, 1943 to Leah and Hal Jarnagin. She is preceded in death by her husband George Rezinas. She died Monday, December 18, 2017.

Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Ray Rochelle

Cynthia “Cindy” Ray Rochelle, 46, of Wake Forest passed away Monday afternoon, December 25, 2017, at Rex Hospital. She was born in Wake County. Cindy worked for Nationwide Insurance for 27 years until this past April. Her greatest joy was taking care of her husband and her two beautiful girls. She not only cared about her family but everyone she knew. Her compassionate heart will be greatly missed by everyone she touched.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, December 29, 2017, at Shady Grove Church. Burial followed in the New Light Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Rochelle is survived by her husband of 23 years, Larry Rochelle; daughters, Amber Lynne Rochelle and Heather Dell Rochelle, both of Wake Forest; parents, Milton “Nook” Ray and Lillian Carpenter Ray of Wake Forest; sister, Diane Ellington and husband, Earl, of Wake Forest; brother, Doug Ray and wife, Tammy, of Wake Forest; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

John Harris Jr.

John Harris Jr., 88, of Wake Forest passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Brookdale Wake Forest. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky to the late John Harris Sr. and Susie Lawson Harris. Mr. Harris retired from Wonder Bread in 1995 where he was a truck driver for almost 45 years. He loved his family and especially loved his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
John grew up in hard times during the Depression and lived in a time when hard work meant working with your hands, sun up to sun down. His father, John, started as a sharecropper saving enough money to buy a farm when John was a young boy. By time John was 10 he was helping his father bring in and dry tobacco. He left school when he was 16 to work on the railroad in the last year of WWII. In 1948 he followed his two brothers, Bill (a WWI Bronze Star hero) and Charlie, to Indiana to drive a truck. He was in the U.S. Army 4th Infantry, Recon Company from 1951 through 1958 and active and reserve duty.
He married his wife, Marilyn, in 1956. His dream was to become an architect but going back to school with long hours and a new family made his dream challenging. Instead, he built and remodeled several homes, including his parents’ home, giving them indoor plumbing, heating and did it all by hand by himself. He worked hard and gave his all in everything he did. He gave his family a strong start and they were the most important part of his life.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, December 27, 2017, at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Wake Forest Town Cemetery.
Mr. Harris is survived by his children, Julie Rasmussen and husband, Boyd, of Madison, Wisconsin, John David Harris of Crown Point, Indiana, Sandra Millsap of Long Beach, Washington and Gary Harris and wife, Amanda, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Lauren, Katheryn, Matthew, Brittany, Amanda, Richards, Nick and Steve Meyer, Chase, Tesse and Phoebe Millsap, Lauren, Matthew, Kathryn and John William Harris; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Alex, and Cheryllynn; and sisters, Lorraine LaPan of Mississippi and Ruth Bellaw of Kentucky. Fay Wood Moore

Faye Wood Moore, 68, of Wake Forest, passed away on December 30, 2017 after a brave battle with cancer. Faye was born to Kenneth Wood and Jennette Parker Wood in Ogden, Utah, on December 16, 1949 and lived her youth in Clinton, Utah. She attended Clinton Elementary School, Sunset Junior High, and graduated from Clearfield High School in June 1968.
She attended Weber State University for two years, where she met her husband, Dennis, and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 3, 1971. They have lived in Kaysville, Utah; St. Charles, Missouri; and settled in the Raleigh area where they have lived for 33 years.
Faye has served in various callings in her church, many which were musically related. She enjoyed singing in the ward choir, playing piano in the primary, scrapbooking, and being with her wonderful family and friends whom she considered her greatest blessings. Faye served as a temple worker in the Raleigh LDS Temple as an addiction-recovery specialist, and she served a mission in the Raleigh, NC LDS mission office. Faye was also active in community affairs; she served as the president of the NC Chapter of American Mothers and was a participant in the Wake County Republican Women’s Club.
Preceding Faye in death is her father Kenneth Wood, her mother-in-law Shirley Moore, and a nephew, Daniel Montgomery. Faye leaves behind her dear husband, Dennis Lynn Moore of Wake Forest; daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Laws of Wake Forest; son, Brett (Heather) Moore of Bluffdale, Utah; daughter, Trisha Moore of Wake Forest; son, Scott (Kim) Moore of Raleigh; and 15 beautiful grandchildren, Dallin, McKell, Carter and Chandler Laws; Chase, Brooklyn, Austin, Kaden and Savannah Moore; Tristan and Jessica Bailey; Landon Parrish; and Kelsey, Allyson and Ryan Moore. She is also survived by her mother, Jennette Wood, as well as three sisters, Marianne Amundson, Kathy (Ted) Dodge, and Lynne (Bill) Elliott; and a brother, Dale K. (Julie) Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Wake Forest building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Jenkins Road. Visitors are welcome immediately preceding the funeral from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Town Cemetery.

Henry Martin Kegley Jr.

Henry Martin Kegley Jr., 60, of Raleigh passed away on December 29, 2017 peacefully at home after a five-year valiant fight with cancer. He was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey to Henry Martin Kegley Sr., and Dolores Fohl Kegley, and was the eldest of their six children. He was lovingly referred to as “Harry” by his family and friends then upon high school graduation, and wanting to make a change, he decided to join the United States Marine Corps and be referred to as “Hank” from then on.
With the Marine Corps, Hank saw the world. He served on ships and shores in various countries such as Norway, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Philippines, Somalia and Haiti, and in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf. Stateside he served in New Jersey, Washington, California and North Carolina.
While serving on recruiting duty in Red Bank, New Jersey he worked in a neighboring office of a female Navy recruiter’s aide who caught his eye. Hank and Kristina met, they married and the rest is history. After serving almost 24 years, in 1998, he retired as a master sergeant and began a career in computer systems. Initially, Hank was employed with Computer Science Corps, and then IBM, then transitioned to Hewlett Packard, and was employed there for more than 16 years until his health began to decline.
Throughout his life Hank enjoyed traveling, spending time with his friends, his family and his pets. He also loved boating, fishing, wakeboarding, and was an avid beer and wine enthusiast who enjoyed exploring various breweries and vineyards.
Survivors in addition to Kristina, his wife of 36 years, include a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Cari Leigh Kegley; a granddaughter, Margo; and siblings, Denise Breedlove, Eric Kegley, Laura Holloway, Jerry Kegley, Sandra Kegley and a host of extended family throughout the country.
A celebration of Hank’s life will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Clancy Strickland Wheeler Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Annaliese Madison Noell

Annaliese Madison Noell – a precious child of God, who for eight years faced challenges most people never do, but who communicated without words the love of Jesus Christ, and touched more lives than most could do in 90 years! Born to Edward Benjamin Noell and Barbara Pollard Noell, and to big sister Karissa Mae Noell in Raleigh, the family moved to Wake Forest, where Annaliese was ushered into heaven from her home, surrounded by family, caregivers, and friends.
She was the granddaughter of William and Joan Noell of Jamestown and of William and Lois Pollard of Cary; the niece of Marc and JoAnn Scott, parents of William and Abigail Scott, and of Douglas and Rhonda Pollard, parents of Andrew, Lily, and Avery Pollard. She was the grandniece of Polly Litton of Lynchburg, Virginia, of Timothy and Dotty Hansen of Waite Hill, Ohio, and of Jeannette Burd, of Bullhead City, Arizona.
Annaliese, who endured a life of multiple medical challenges and special needs, was loved and cared for by so many faithful members of the medical community – nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers; by the loving staffs, first at Hilburn Academy, and most recently at the Tammy Lynn Center, where she was a student; by those who provided bus transport; by faithful ministers of care and love from four local churches: Providence Baptist Church, Hope Community Church, Capitol Community Church, and Richland Creek Community Church; by countless nurses and CNA’s who served her in her home day and night.
All who knew Annaliese will remember her winsome and contagious smile and laughter, her special elbow hugs, her strength of endurance, and the way the love of Jesus radiated from her being.
The family will receive guests on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church, 3229 Burlington Mills Road, Wake Forest. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the same church.

Wayne A. Deckard

Son, Brother, Husband, World War II Veteran, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Great-Great Grandfather—all supportive roles that Wayne skillfully and lovingly played for nearly 98 years. His family loves him, will miss him, and will honor him for his outstanding performances in all of these roles.
Wayne moved to Raleigh in 2008 to live with his son (Larry) and daughter-in-law (Becky) and be near his grandson (Rob). His daughter and son-in-law (Lynn & Jim Carey), three other grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two infant great-great-grandsons all live in Sheridan, Indiana. Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Estelle, his second wife, Eileen, three brothers, and two sisters. His sister, Leona, also resides in Indiana.
Wayne’s funeral and burial will be in Anderson, Indiana.
Sarah White provided outstanding support and loving care to Wayne and Eileen prior to Eileen’s death in 2012 and continued to help care and cook for Wayne until his death. She is a wonderful earthly angel.
In addition, Right at Home of Wake County provided an amazing team of caregivers for added support as Wayne’s health deteriorated. The family is very grateful for the loving care provided by Saurabh, Sheila, Annette, Ayodele (Sunday), and Cynthia. We can’t imagine how we could have made it through our journey without them! And finally, the family is so very grateful for the expertise and support provided by the staff of professionals at Transitions Life Care (formerly Hospice of Wake County) during Wayne’s final days. Margaret Quick Keith, 93, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Transitions Life Care Hospice in Raleigh. She was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Carrie Lee Smith Quick and Belvin Carodine Quick.
Mrs. Keith was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Keith, and her husband, Bruce Keith.
Mrs. Keith was the owner and operator of Keith’s Supermarket in Wake Forest for years with her husband, Bruce.

Charles James Caudle

Charles James Caudle went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 22, 2017, with family by his side at his home in Lake Royale.
He was born at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, the son of the late Ruby Simpson Caudle and Abram Clarence Caudle. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Abram Caudle and Henry Caudle, a nephew, Eric Dean.
Charlie joined the Army and served in Korea. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel and spend time with his family.
A funeral service was held at 11 o’clock Friday morning, December 29, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Patricia Nelson Caudle; a sister, Ann Caudle; and a brother, David Caudle.

Herman Stanley ‘Stan’ Jones Jr.

Herman Stanley “Stan” Jones Jr., 60, died peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Wendell.
Stan was born August 20, 1957 in Wake County to Stanley and Frances Jones of Wendell. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1979. He received his master’s degree from Stanford University in 1983.
Stan was a loving husband to his wife of 38 years, Beverly, and devoted father to his two children, Nathaniel and Victoria. A faithful follower of Christ, Stan was a dedicated Sunday School teacher at Bay Leaf Baptist Church. In addition to supervising construction projects at home, he spent his time woodworking and taking trips to Lake Gaston with his family. He also enjoyed his work as a design director with Cadence Design Systems in Cary. Stan will always be remembered for steadfast faith, love of family, and strong work ethic.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, Nathaniel Jones, and his fiancée, Beth Suggs; and daughter, Victoria Jones Radford and her husband, Josh.

Joseph C. Hicks Jr., 81, of Youngsville was taken home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. He passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home with his family by his side. He lost his battle with cancer.
He retired with Hertz Equipment Rental after serving 42 years of service.
He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Pleasant Gardens. He played the guitar in church which he truly enjoyed. He also played guitar with the Gospel Road Band.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Lilian Hicks; his father and mother, Joseph C. Hicks Sr. and Daphine Hicks; brothers, C.D. Horton and James Hicks; and a sister, Peggy Crawford.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Sutton and husband Bill; grandson, Anthony Hicks and wife, Melissa; brother, Danny Hicks; sister, Miriam Pollard; step-father, Lawrence Junior Hicks; many cousins, nieces and nephews and their children; special friends, John and Lisa David, Betty Hull, Bobby and Julie Taylor, Sandra Davis, Jeanne, Meghan and Devin Boyles of Pleasant Garden; and special pet, Rebel.
