Carrol Irene Dellinger, 66, of Franklinton, formerly of Port Royal, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the widow of Charles Dellinger. They had shared 28 years of marriage.
Born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen Carter of Creedmoor. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sybil Rupe, of Radford, Virginia, and three brothers, Jackie Carter (infant), Donnie Toone of Kittrell, and Tony Carter of Franklinton.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
She is survived by three daughters, Fonda Gail Burke (David) of Franklinton, Shannon Dellinger (Veryl) of Chase City, Virginia, and Christy Jones (Chris) of Port Royal, Virginia; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by six siblings, Joyce Jackson of Youngsville, William Toone of Zebulon, Linda Marshall of Wake Forest, Tim Carter (Renee) of Franklinton, Becky Light (Buddy) of Wake Forest, and Neal Carter (Sheila) of Franklinton.

Dorothy Piper “Dot” Young

Dorothy Piper “Dot” Young, 74, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She was born in Franklin County and was the daughter of the late Johnny and Annie Louise Piper.
Dot was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and worked in human resources at Burlington Industries for over 25 years. Later she worked as an office manager in the healthcare field. Dot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was always putting the needs of her family and friends ahead of her own. She will be remembered for her undying love, care and sacrifice for others.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, October 24, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Hunter officiating.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Felecia Stephens and husband, Mark of Wake Forest, and Vanessa Houston and husband, Michael, of Raleigh; son, Bryant Young of Zebulon; her siblings, Rachel Dement and husband, Donnie, James Piper and wife, Nancy, Ricky Piper and wife, Teresa, Peggy Garrett and husband, Ronnie, Johnny Piper, Sheila Archambault and husband, Marc, and Danny Piper and wife, Tia; grandchildren, Walker, Michaela, Brooklyn, Bryson, Morgan and Greyson; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Lexie, Aubrey Jean, and Brayan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie B. Young, Sr.; her son, Eric Kearney; granddaughter, Elizabeth Carlyle Wilkins; and by her brothers, Charles Piper, and Jerry Piper.

Mary Jean Bennett

Mary Jean Bennett passed away on October 21, 2017 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on September 30, 1938 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Paul and Mary Isabel Griffith. She spent her growing years in Taneytown, Maryland and Hagerstown, Maryland. She was the devoted mother of four children who she raised in Richmond, Virginia and Wake Forest. After her children were grown she moved to High Point, where she lived until moving back to Wake Forest in 2007.
She is preceded in death by her son, James Alan King Jr.’ and husband’ Richard L. Bennett.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Franklinton Baptist Church. Burial followed in Pine Forest Memorial Garden in Wake Forest.
She is survived by her children, Susanne (Jimmy) Harris, Joseph (Donna) King, William (Yvonne) King; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Garner; brother, James Griffith; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Maxine Layton Johnson

Maxine Layton Johnson, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Richard and Ina Layton and was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Lee “Nick” Johnson. She was a member of the Flat Rock Baptist Church.
A graveside funeral service was held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, October 21, 2017, at the Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her five children; Sandra Macon, Steve Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Jimmy Johnson (Elaine) and Timmy Johnson (Lisa); nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Glynnis Clement Brown , 63, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017. She was born April 2, 1954 to Dorothy Wall Clement and the late JL Clement Jr. Glynnis worked many years at IBM, Dr. Upton DDS and with her husband at their fence company, American Heritage Fence in Wake Forest. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed attending as many ball games as possible.
Surviving are her husband, of 44 years, Ralph C. Brown of Wake Forest; a son, Jason Brown and wife, Amy of Wake Forest; a daughter, Mandy Brown of Burlington and friend, Jill; four granddaughters, Ashlee, Gracie, Caroline and Hannah; her mother, Dorothy Wall Clement of Raleigh; a sister, Debbie Grimes and husband, Sammy of Garner; a brother, Chris Clement and wife, Donna of Raleigh; numerous nieces and nephews.

William “Bill” H. Sorrell

William “Bill” H. Sorrell, age 89, died peacefully October 20, 2017. Born in Leesville on June 14, 1928 to the late Elvin and Veola Sorrell, Bill spent his entire life in Raleigh. Preceding him in death was his brother, Elvin “Bunny” Sorrell Jr.
Bill was employed at Capital Printing Company most of his career. He served in the Army in Germany during 1950 to 1952.
His great loves were his family, baseball, and NC State sports. Bill lived life simply and didn’t require much even though his children and grandchildren showered him with love and gifts regularly.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Jacque Horner and husband, Jack, Carolyn Zahnow and husband, Dan, Angela Hodges, Kristie Rhodes and husband, Kelly; and son, Anthony Sweeney who provided one-on-one care for the past three years. He has eight grandchildren, Ben, Cameron (deceased), Austin, Chris, Karie, Haley, Allison, and Emily as well as three great-grandchildren, Nora, Henry and Rylee. He is also survived by sister, Betty Lou Sorrell, and brother, Bobby Sorrell and wife, Peggy, and their daughters. Debbie and Patsy.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Hayes Barton Baptist Church.

William Arthur Konkle Jr., “Bill,” passed away peacefully in his home in Wake Forest on October 19, 2017. He was born in High Point in 1936. He was 81 years old. He was a graduate of High Point University and served fur years in the United States Army as a military police officer.
After his military service he worked in the kitchen and bath cabinet industry for the remainder of his life. He was often referred to as a pioneer in the industry and is well-known by members of the cabinet community. Bill worked up until the day of his death with his son at Atlantic Coast Cabinet Distributors.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, William “Bill” Arthur Konkle Sr. and Dora Balle Konkle; his brother, Theodore “Ted” Konkle, his wife, Patricia “Judy” Groome; his daughter, Karen “Miki” Michelle Konkle; and his granddaughter Emma Mackenzie Konkle.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William “Zeke” Arthur Konkle III and Emily Konkle of Wake Forest; his brother and sister-in-law, James “Jimmy” and Judy Konkle; his grandchildren, William “Jake” Jacob Stikeleather of Angier, William “Liam” Arthur Konkle IV, John Ethan Konkle, and Tinsley Grace Konkle.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Bay Leaf Baptist Church, 12200 Bayleaf Church Road, Raleigh. Visitation with the family will follow after the service in the Fellowship Hall. Members of the extended family are invited to stay for a meal in the Fellowship Hall after the visitation. Carl Louis Cole, 64, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jana Everitt Cole; his daughters, Holly Baldwin (Brad), and Nicole Cole (Andrew); his two grandchildren, Cadence and Jacob; and many, many more who loved and cherished him.
He has joined his father, Donald Louis Cole, his mother, Margaret Groh Cole, his father-in-law, R.G. Everitt, and his sister, Donna Cole Hooks in heaven.
Visitation will be held from1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Bright Funeral Home, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens (770 Stadium Drive, Wake Forest, NC).

Christopher Addison “Chris” Choplin, 28, and his wife, Kathleen Michelle “Kathie” Blumeyer-Choplin, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017.
Chris was born in Wake County, the son of Larry Jay and Kelly Hinton Powell Choplin. He attended Neuse Baptist Christian School up through 2006 and graduated from Crossroads Christian School in 2008 with a close group of friends. He went on to Vance-Granville Community College to earn his air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration technology diploma in 2009 with Dean’s List honors and was employed as a service technician at Casey’s Services of Wake Forest.
He was married to Kathleen Michelle Blumeyer on June 25, 2017 at the Choplin home place and honeymooned a month later in St. Lucia. Chris loved to hunt, trap, and fish and spent many hours looking for arrowheads with his dad and friends. His summers were spent with family and friends at Kerr Lake and playing in the creek with cousins and friends at the Choplin home place. He was known for his sense of humor and playing tricks on people, for his knack for spotting antiques in his all-day forages through the Raleigh and Wake Forest Goodwill stores, his joy at opening presents at Christmastime, and for his love of ‘80’s “big hair” rock and metal music.
A memorial service will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Oct. 26, 21017, in the Woodland Baptist Church with the Rev. Tito Madrazo officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
Chris is survived by his parents, Larry and Kelly Choplin; a sister, Corey Choplin; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Louise Choplin; maternal grandparents, Joe and Sonia Brogden; uncles and aunts, Wayne and Sheila Choplin, David and Audra Rosendahl; cousins, Eric and wife, Hope, and daughter, Ella, Elizabeth Choplin, Travis Sanford, and their son, Tucker, and Abby, Michael and Anna Rosendahl.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jean Choplin, and his maternal grandfather, Truby Powell.
Kathie was born in Mecklenburg County, the daughter of Sharon Blumeyer-Law and Douglas Dwayne Blumeyer.
Kathie is survived by her mother, Sharon Blumeyer-Law; brothers, Brent Miller Law Jr. and Trevor Carlyle Law; sister-in-law, Raven Young Law; godchildren, Abigail Michele Law, Alianna Cheyenne Law, and Forest Carlyle Law; paternal grandparents, Douglas Dwayne Blumeyer, Esther Cielo and Art Cielo Sr.; maternal grandparents, Gene Preddy and Jeanie Bartlett; aunts, Dee Norris, Nan Cielo, Sherry Rose and Tina Law; and uncles, David Blumeyer, Art Cielo, Jr. and Danny Norris.
Kathie was the warmest, most loving person, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and godmother in the world. She loved giving, music, and fun time. She had the most beautiful smile and she lit the room when she walked in it. She will be missed so much, but she will always live in all of us. We love you, sweetheart, and will always treasure the time we had with you.
