Jane Gholson Lanham

Wake Forest

Jane Gholson Lanham, 76, of Wake Forest passed away on September 24, 2017 at Sunrise Senior Living in Raleigh. She was born on September 23, 1941 in Washington, D.C. to Rex and Laura Gholson.

Jane grew up in Arlington, Virginia and graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington in 1959 and Mary Washington College in 1963. Jane married Robert J. Lanham in Arlington, Virginia on August 31, 1962. They were happily married for 55 years. She worked as a preschool teacher and later for the Fairfax Country School System for a number of years and was a long-time resident of Vienna, Virginia until relocating to Wake Forest in 2005. Jane was a member of Vienna Presbyterian Church in Vienna, Virginia. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, antiquing, reading, and quilting and won third place for one of her quilts at the NC State Fair.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Bob, and her children, Rick (Karen) of Leesburg, Virginia, Rob (Lisa) of High Point, and Mary Ellen Archer (Glenn) of Wake Forest; and five grandchildren, Alex and Sydney Lanham of Leesburg, Virginia, Sophie Lanham of High Point, and Will and Elise Archer of Wake Forest. She is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Harnett, and is also survived by her brother, Don Gholson.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, 405 South Main Street, Wake Forest on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 11 a.m., and the family will be receiving guests at 10:30.

Gloria L. Hicks

Wake Forest

Gloria Leonhardt Hicks, 72, of Wake Forest passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017, at WakeMed. She was born in Vance County, the daughter of the late David and Maude Leonhardt, and was a member of Wake Union Baptist Church. Gloria worked as a pharmacist technician at T. E. Holding Drug (now CVS) for many years and was a loving wife mother and grandmother.

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, September 27, 2017, at Wake Union Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Forestville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gloria is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Ronnie Hicks; sons, Jimmy Hicks and wife, Hollie, and Randy Hicks and wife, Melissa, all of Wake Forest; sister, Lilly Mae Parsons of Clayton; and grandchildren, Spencer Hicks, Austin Hicks, Chandler Hicks, and Chase Hicks. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Hicks, and by her sisters, Alice Adcock, Edna Whitaker, Mary Sue Arnold, and Elsie Ellington.

Florence Emma Mary Glass

Wake Forest

Florence Glass, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Hillside Nursing and Rehab in Wake Forest.

She was born September 22, 1921, in Detroit, Michigan to the late John Jones and Florence Lily Muttram Jones. Florence worked for many years as a bank teller for Bank of the Commonwealth in Michigan.  After she retired she was very active in volunteer work with the American Red Cross and at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro. Florence moved to Wake Forest in 2011, residing at the Lodge of Wake Forest before Hillside.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Howard Joseph Glass as well as her parents.

Surviving her are two brothers, John A. Jones (Vera) and Leslie G. Jones (Lillian), both of Michigan. In addition, her four children, Crystal Glass-Boyd of Canton, Michigan, Sandra Withrow and husband, John, of Big Rapids, Michigan, Howard D. Glass and wife, Beverly, of Gilbert, Arizona and Laura Flick and husband, Daniel of Rolesville. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium in Goldsboro and at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan.

Devin Cristofer Bilodeau

Youngsville

Devin Cristofer Bilodeau, 21, died suddenly on Saturday, September 23, 2017. He was born on April 18, 1996, to Lindsay Rovnak and Noel George Bilodeau in Biddleford, Maine. Devin worked in the landscaping business.

Surviving are his mother, Lindsay Rovnak Abuzaid and husband, Feras, of Youngsville; two sisters, Madalyn and Hailea of Youngsville; a brother, Tailor of Youngsville; grandparents, Karen and John Firment of Wake Forest and Francis Rovnak of Knightdale; aunt, Amy Firment of Creedmoor; uncle, Jonathan Rovnak and wife, Courtney, of Youngsville; and cousins, Kaia Finn and Hunter Jaxon.

Genevieve Therese Sasinowski

Wake Forest

Genevieve Therese Sasinowski, 71, died at Rex Healthcare on Tuesday, September 21, 2017. She was born June 27, 1946 to the late Samuel and Genevieve Mouton Small. Genevieve lived most of her life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before moving to Austin, Texas and Lansdale, Pennsylvania, before settling in Wake Forest in 1999. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s RC Church. Genevieve was an avid gardener and, traveler. She adored her grandchildren, Jake and Leah. Ivy Rose was also her best buddy.

A funeral mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Stanley J. Sasinowski Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Claudine and Scott Phetteplace of Wake Forest; a son, Stanley J. Sasinowski III of Collegeville, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Jake and Leah Phetteplace of Wake Forest.

Larry J. Takacs

Youngsville

Larry John Takacs, 84, died on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Duchess County, New York, the son of the late Helen Barbara Jezsu Takacs and John Daniel Takacs. He was a retired financial planner with IBM.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, September 30, 2017, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Takacs is survived by his wife, Julia Walters Takacs; a daughter, Maureen Amberg and husband, Jay; a son, Larry J. Takacs II and wife, Darlene; a brother, Daniel Takacs and wife, Betty; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
