Betty Perry Horton

Betty Perry Horton, 75, of Louisburg, passed away July 18, 2017 at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring. She was born in Wake County to the late James H. Perry and Euna Morris Perry Newton.
Mrs. Horton retired from Westinghouse/ABB/Elster after 37 years of service where she manufactured electrical meters, oversaw the repairs process and final meter testing. She enjoyed bluegrass music, however cooking was her passion and she often helped lift people’s spirits with her many dishes. Mrs. Horton was a member of Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Mrs. Horton’s funeral was held Friday afternoon, July 21, 2017, at Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church and burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Horton is survived by her children, John W. Blackwell Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Apex and Cyndi Blackwell of Garner; step-children, Lisa Johnson and husband, Timmy, of Louisburg and Terry Horton and wife, Terry, of Wake Forest; brother, Charles Perry and wife, Nancy, of Holly Springs; grandchildren, Brittany Blackwell Canfield and husband, Kyle, and John W. “Trey” Blackwell III; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. “Jim” Horton, and a brother, James “Buck” Perry.

Elisabeth Christine Waybright

Elisabeth Christine Waybright, 55, chose to end her inner struggles on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Born September 5, 1961 in Saint Jean D’angely, France to Janus and Hanka Winiarski, Elisabeth was known to siblings and old friends as “Betty”.
Elisabeth was a loving wife for 20 years to Brad Waybright and devoted mother to Chloe Waybright.
Elisabeth touched countless lives in northern Wake County as a teacher at Millbrook High School, Franklinton High School, and most recently Wake Technical Community College. Elisabeth’s passion for helping students included work with blind students and tutoring numerous children for friends and neighbors. Elisabeth loved time spent with her friends in fitness classes, walking or biking the local nature trails, and simply enjoying good company over a glass of wine.
Surviving are her husband and daughter, siblings Mark Winiarski of West Chester Pennsylvania, Christine Erikson of Dover, Massachusetts, and Andre Winiarski of Foster City, California.

Barbara Jean O’Brien

Barbara Jean O’Brien, 34, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Born July 29, 1982 in Colorado to William and Anna Mancin O’Brien, Barbara was an avid historical re-enactor. She taught open-fire cooking and worked as a pharmacy technician at Rite Aide in Henderson and part-time at Sheetz in Louisburg
Barbara was always smiling and laughing and was well loved by all that knew her. She loved her family and cooking for everybody was her way of saying I LOVE YOU. She was always ready to experience new things and embraced life to the fullest.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
Surviving are her husband of 12 years, Michael Minor; daughters, Gabriella and Damiana O’Brien of the home; step-sons, Dakota and Dechlan Minor of Smithfield; mother, Anna O’Brien; and sister, Abigail O’Brien of Florida.

Louis Anthony ‘Tony’ Dorsey

Louis Anthony “Tony” Dorsey, 70, died Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Duke Medical Center. He was born January 31, 1947 in Vance County to the late Louis Beam Dorsey and Ruth Wester Dorsey. Tony was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Dale Dorsey, as well as his parents.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, in the Franklinton Baptist Church with the Rev. David Averette officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Tony is survived by his wife, Debbie Dorsey; daughter, Tanya Dorsey (Anthony); grandchildren, Unique Chavis, Destiny Chavis, Ayden Perry, Dorsey Perry, and John Dorsey; sisters, Barbara Vaughan, Deborah Odonohue (Tom), and Chris Bonvillian (Tracy); and lots of very special cousins and friends.

Kathleen Jackson Ray

Kathleen Jackson Ray, 96, died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her home. She was born September 21, 1920 in Franklin County to the late Walter and Selma Lee Jackson. She retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and was a member of the Wake Union Baptist Church. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Howard Ray.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Harrison and Brother Ronald Harris officiating. Burial followed in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Kathleen is survived by a total of four generations of nieces and nephews

William Milton ‘Sweet Pea’ Davis

William Milton “Sweet Pea” Davis, 70, of Wake Forest passed away Monday morning, July 24, 2017. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Lenward and Josephine Davis. He was a former volunteer firefighter at Stony Hill Fire Department and was retired from General Electric and later from IBM.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon, July 28, 2017, at Stony Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susie Ray Davis; daughters, Belinda Davis of Wake Forest and Yolanda Lee “Yoyo” Johnson and husband, Chris, of Raleigh; sons, Sidney Davis and wife, Christy, and Scottie Davis and wife, Heather, all of Wake Forest; grandchildren, T.J. Pearce and wife, Kinsey, Nikki Holloway and husband, L.D., Kristy Staton and husband, Kyle, Scottlin Davis, Caitlin Davis, Ty Davis, Sydney Davis, Kayla Davis, Drake Davis, Megan Vallery and Drew Vallery; great-grandchildren, Maddox and Kendall Holloway and Ryder and Tucker Staton; brother, Linwood Earl Davis and wife, Sandy, of Wake Forest; aunts, Lathie Ann Ray and Elsie Kemp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Tevepaugh.
