Claude Vernon Hunter

Claude Vernon Hunter, 80, of Rolesville passed away Friday, May 16, 2014, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Vance County, the son of the late Callie Vernon Hunter and Ida Lloyd Hunter, and was retired from Weavexx where he worked in the Shipping & Receiving Department.

Mr. Hunter loved to play his guitar and sing with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren whom affectingly called him “Grandpa,” and will be greatly missed by his family

Graveside funeral services were held at 3 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, May 18, 2014, at Sunset Gardens in Henderson.

Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Jones Hunter; daughters, Angie Hunter Gupton and husband, Jeff, of Raleigh and Sherry Hunter Jones and husband, Jason, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Brooke and Grant Gupton, both of Raleigh, James, Emma, Sarah and Edey Jones all of Raleigh. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorene, Rose and Anne; and by his brothers, Allen, Mac, Bobby and Jack.

Jerry T. Allen

Jerry Thomas Allen, 55, of Creedmoor died Friday, May 16, 2014.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, May 20, 2014, at Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Thomas officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Lisa Ross Allen; children, Dana Murray and husband, David, of Wendell, Justin Allen and wife, Ashley, of Franklinton, Shane Allen and Lee Allen of Asheville; grandchildren, Logan, Liam, and Elijah Allen of Franklinton and Emily and Mitchell Murray of Wendell; sister, Tanya Molotky and husband, Tom, of Michigan; brothers, Roger Allen of Florida and Mike Allen of Michigan; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte Clasani Allen and Leamon Howard Allen Jr.

Pallbearers were Ricky Allen, Bobby Dixon, Dale Pleasants, Ralph McGhee, Stuart Peiffer, and Lenwood Edwards.

J. Larry Dowdy Sr.

James Larry Dowdy Sr., 68, of Louisburg died Monday, May 19, 2014, at Wake Medical Center. He was born in Johnston County, the son of the late Rev. Leon Wilson Dowdy and Bessie Pearl Ellis Dowdy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dowdy is survived by his wife, Pamela Jean Dowdy; sons, James Larry Dowdy Jr., of Pittsboro, Bradley James Dowdy of Louisburg, and Kevin Wayne Parrish and wife, Angela, of Wake Forest; daughters, Joy Lynn Dowdy Duquette and husband, Dwayne, of Pittsboro, Sheila Ann Dowdy Pendergraph and husband, Brian, of Sanford, and Angela Renee Ling and husband, Mike, of Youngsville; brothers, Lewis Dowdy and wife, Katie, of Garner, and Derby Dowdy and wife, Catrina, of Erwin; and grandchildren, Alston Tyler Smith, Brandon Nathan Lowe, Landon Parrish, and Matthew Blake Pendergraph.

Pallbearers will be David Dowdy, Daniel Dowdy, Alston Smith, Christopher Midkiff, Brendon Williams, and Ethan Barnwell.

Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
