Phoebe Carol Huffman

Phoebe Carol Huffman, 71, of Wake Forest died Thursday, May 1, 2014, in Orlando, Florida. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Alice Winston Parham Hedrick and Frank Tousin Hedrick, and was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Woodrow Huffman Jr., and by her son, Robert Yager.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. David Averette officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Franklinton.

Mrs. Huffman is survived by her sons, Richard Yager of Raleigh and Wayne Yager of Henderson; daughters, Rhonda Radford of Franklinton and Lynn Huffman of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Patricia Peace of Zebulon; brothers, Tyrone Hedrick of Henderson and Gary Hedrick of Wake Forest; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday afternoon from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 South Main St., Wake Forest.

Ann Phillips Turnage

Ann P. Turnage, 76, of Raleigh died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the William Dunlap Hospice Home in Raleigh after a long battle with a lung infection. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Merle Upchurch Phillips and Larry Vincent Phillips, and was married to Glenn Turnage, who preceded her in death.

A memorial service honoring her life was held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon May 6, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. al Thomas officiating.

Ann is survived by her daughters, Vicki Sherk of Raleigh and Tracey Maxwell of Zebulon; three grandchildren, Dylan Sherk, Jessi Maxwell and Michael Maxwell and his fiance’, Casey; a great-grandson, Logan; and her two Boston terriers, Ralph and Alice.

Miriam Angela Holcomb Faile

Miriam Angela Holcomb Faile of Wake Forest went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Rex Hospital. She was a loving wife and mother to her family and faithful member of Glen Royal Baptist Church.

Angela was preceded in death by her mother, Miriam Workman Armstrong, and by her grandparents, William and Margaret Workman and Max Holcomb.

A memorial service for Angela will be held at 6 o’clock Friday evening, May 9, 2014, at Glen Royal Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2014, at Grandview. Memorial Park (Hollis Lakes Road) in Rock Hill, S.C.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Robert Faile of Wake Forest; daughter, Katie Ray and her husband, Rodney, of Cary; her father, David Holcomb Sr. and wife, Tammy, of Tega Cay, S.C.; brother, David Holcomb Jr. of Randleman; grandmother, Margaret Pettus of Longs, S.C.; half-brother, Jason Holcomb of Tega Cay, S.C.; half-sister, Amber Watkins and husband, Taylor, of Lake Wylie, S.C.; in-laws, Bill and Marian Faile; brother-in-law, Billy Faile Jr.; sister-in-law, Cathy Faile Horne; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her loving dog, Maggie.

Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to the Glen Royal Baptist Church Renovation Project Fund, 731 Elizabeth Avenue, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Betty Grey Daves

Betty Grey Cronic Daves, 84, of Youngsville passed away Saturday May 3, 2014, at Hillside Nursing Center. She was born in Guilford County, the daughter of the late Charlie Cronic and Edna Michaelson Cronic.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, May 5, 2014, in Raleigh Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronald Pearce officiating.

Mrs. Daves is survived by her sons, Gaylan Grey Daves and wife, Linda, of Raleigh and Dana Drew Daves and wife, Ann, of Raleigh; daughter, Angela Charlene Daves of Youngsville; grandchildren, Deana Ball and husband, Kenneth “Cheese Ball”, of Youngsville, Drew Daves of Germany, Jana Daves of Raleigh and Danielle Daves of Raleigh; and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cager Daves.

Mamie Ruth Kearney

Mamie Ruth Stainback Kearney, 101, of Wake Forest died Friday, May 2, 2014, at Hillside Nursing Center. She was born in Pitt County, the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Carroll Stainback and Edwin Ernest Stainback, and was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for over 70 years. Mrs. Kearney was preceded in death by her husband, Shem Francis Kearney; four brothers, Ashley, Clifton, Edwin and Clinton; and by three sisters, Bertha, Iona, and Virginia.

Funeral services were held at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Hunter officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Kearney is survived by her daughter, Barbara K. Ray and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Carolyn Mitchell and husband, Robert, and Tony Kearney and wife, Pam; great-grandchildren, Kevin Mitchell and Brittany Kearney; step-grandchildren, Lynn Burke and husband, Melvin, and Mike Ray; step-great-grandchildren, Kristy Francis and husband, Derek, John Ray and wife, Destiny, Joshua Burke, and Jacob Ray; step-great-great-grandchildren, Hailey and Kaitlyn Klein and Krystal, Tara, and Brittney Francis; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Hillside Nursing Center for their kind and loving care.
