Minna Lovinia Tapper Harrison, 97, of Wake Forest, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017. She was born in Hertford County, the daughter of the late Carrie Parker Tapper and Egon Tapper, and was married to Grover Thomas Harrison who preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, January 5, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges and the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating. Burial was in Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by her son, Bobby Harrison (Mae) of Wake Forest and their children, J.B. Harrison (Lisa), Charlie Richardson, Rhonda Williams (Robert) and Michele Goss (Tracy); another son, William Harrison and his children, Cherie Alexander (Brian Pleasants), Todd Harrison (Kristy), and Angela Leonard (Jeff); her brother, Carroll E. Tapper of Hanover, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Dannielle, Brittany, Justin, Allie, Harrison, Hunter, Brittanie and Dylan; and great-great-grandchildren, Issabella, Vianna, Amelia, Tes, Josselyn, Dak, Charis, Braydon and Alana.
Pallbearers were J.B. Harrison, Charlie Richardson, Todd Harrison, Tracy Goss, Jeff Leonard, Robert Williams, and Brian Pleasants.

Earle Pleasants

Earle went to his heavenly home on January 2, 2017 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Earle and his wife, Audrey, had celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary this past November.
During his life, Earle worked 28 years with A&P in Warehouse Management. Earle loved his church family and served in numerous positions for many years. When not at work or enjoying service in the church, Earle would play golf, work in the yard, keep his bird feeders full, or watch any sport the Wake Forest Deacons were playing.
Earle was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Pleasants; his father and mother, Bernard Pleasants and Blanche Allen Pleasants; and by his brother, Lewis Pleasants. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Kearney Pleasants; son, Craig Pleasants and his wife, India Pleasants, of Wake Forest; sister-in-law, Carolyn Lynam of Raleigh; brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Kearney of Raleigh and Lewis Kearney and wife, Barbara, of Wake Forest; sister-in-law, Arreta Kearney of Wake Forest; many nieces and nephews; and his little dog, Joy.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, January 5, 2017 at Wake Union Baptist Church, Wake Forest. Burial followed at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Carol Marie Fosness, 75, died Monday, January 2, 2017, at Franklin Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Dunbarton, Canada, the daughter of the late Roy and Eugenie Parks.
A memorial service was held at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, January 7, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Thomas officiating.
Mrs. Fosness is survived by her husband, Gayle Fosness of Youngsville; daughters, Traci Caslin, Trina Dremel and Teresa Hencye; a son, Glen Fosness; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a brother, Larry Parks.

Frances Carter Brown, 78, died Monday, January 2, 2017. She was born September 9, 1938 to the late Ijar Carter and Lillie Rogers Carter in Franklin County. Frances was a graduate of Millbrook High School and Sherrill’s University of Barber & Cosmetology in Raleigh. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Knightdale and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Millbrook Chapter.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Melvin Brown, her parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. The Reverand Mick Bowen officiated.
Frances is survived by; two sons, Gilbert Brown and wife, Wendy, of Youngsville and Monty Brown and wife, Karen, of Wilmington; a daughter, Kim Ford and husband, Vaughn, of Youngsville; three grandchildren, Chris, Ashlee and Graeson; three great-grandchildren, Addison, Aidan and Sawyer; two sisters, Susie Sandy of Wake Forest and Betty Lou Scheiner of Iowa; and a brother, Bo Carter and wife, Deborah, of Rolesville.

- D. Frazier, 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at WakeMed. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Annie Hagwood Frazier and Otha Henry Frazier, and was preceded in death by a brother,Bill Frazier, and a sister, Louise Piper.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017, at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Frazier is survived by his wife, Vernell Frazier; a son, Stanley A. Frazier and wife, Jaime, of Warrenton; a grandson, Christian A. Frazier; and a granddaughter, Ariel L. Frazier, both of Warrenton.

Cheryl S. Davis

Cheryl Sue Davis died peacefully on December 30, 2016. She was born in Raleigh and was predeceased by her parents, DeCross Lee and Violet Bridges Davis. With her steadfast Christian faith in a loving, forgiving, and reconciling God, she passed from long months of suffering and pain to be where there is no longer pain or suffering. Family members and friends spent tender days and cherished moments with her during her final illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
Cheryl is survived by her sons, Lee Jeffreys (Missy) of Franklinton and Clint Stephenson (Leah) of Boston, Massachusetts; and loving grandchildren, Ashlee (Cody), Tripp, Jacob, Makayla, and Stevie. She also is survived by her sisters, Donna Davis Smith (Harmon) of Durham and Sandra Davis Wilson (Jerry) of Aberdeen; nieces, Shelly Wilson, New York and Shawn Marie Danos, Los Angeles; nephews, Michael Wilson, North Carolina, and Bryn Sandusky, Oregon. Additional family members include Donald and Jane Moore (uncle and aunt) of Emerald Isle. The measure of Cheryl’s devotion to and care of her family was shared time and time again in constant conversation. She never tired of talking about those she deeply loved.
After retirement from the Wake County School system, Cheryl had more opportunities to enjoy her family and friends, to be an active church member and volunteer, tend to her two feline companions, Selene and Sebastian, explore a variety of delectable places to lunch with her sisters and friends plus occasional shopping sprees. Her no-nonsense wit and humor were so delightful, refreshing. They will be unforgettable.
To those persons who assisted her during her illness at Pruitt Nursing Home in Raleigh and Hospice of Wake County, she was so thankful and grateful for their attention and services. Even in her pain and suffering, Cheryl was forever saying “thank you”.

Cheryl Lee Brown, 56, passed away on January 3, 2017. She was born on January 23, 1960 in Ilion, New York, the daughter of Leonard Brown and Adeline Murdock Brown. She is fondly remembered in the community as a gifted cosmetologist. She is fondly remembered by her family as a loving mother and daughter.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
Ms. Brown is survived by her daughter, Catrina Czernecki, who she jokingly referred to as “Darla.” She was preceded in death by her mother, Adeline Murdock Brown.

Mrs. Rogerson retired, after many years, as the sales manager at Mother and Daughter Clothing Store in Winston- Salem. Mrs. Rogerson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Huey, and son-in-law, Jeff Jones

Frances is survived by her husband of 34 years, Henry Edgar Rogerson; four children, Vanessa Parks of Winston-Salem, Patrick Huey and wife, Susan, of Clemmons, Karyn Holland of San Francisco and Sandra Jones of Youngsville; nine grandchildren, Angie, Eddie, Sherry, Patrick Jr., Amber, Greg, Maya, Sage and Brittany; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Archie Yates of Landis and Arnold Yates of Rocky Mount; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary L. Smith departed to heaven Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was the oldest of four children born to the late Elwood L. Smith and Alva G. Smith.

He is survived by his mother, Alva, and stepdad, Earl, of Wake Forest; two brothers, Bobby of Raleigh and Mark and his wife, Margie, of Louisburg; sister, Cheryl Huckabee and husband, Donnie, of Kittrell; a nephew, Tim, of Raleigh; and a niece, Melissa, of Kentucky. He will be missed and forever in our hearts.

Esther M. Battista, 82, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017. She was born September 15, 1934 in Franklin County to the late Herbert and Rosa Green Moore. She worked at Eckerd Drugs for many years. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Battista; brothers, Richard, Howard, Wilbert, Clarence and C.A. Moore; and a sister, Pauline Jones
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. The Reverend Robert Faile officiated. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton.
She is survived by her former husband, Jimmie Kearney Sr. of Franklinton; four sons, Curtis O’Neal and wife, Suzy, of Youngsville, Jimmie Kearney Jr. and wife, Debra, of Castalia, Ricky Kearney of Raleigh and Ronald Kearney of Garner; five grandchildren, Chris, Jennifer, Brian, Tiffany and Jacob; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bruce Moore and wife, Cleona, of Sanford.

Raymond David Kelly

Raymond David Kelly, 46, passed away on January 6, 2017. He was born on February 20, 1970 in Manchester, Connecticut, the son of Walter Kelly and Shirley Mahoney. He was a computer project manager for IBM. In his free time, Mr. Kelly was active in Boy Scouts as a den leader as well as a youth hockey coach.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, January 11, 2017, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife, Cara Janel Kelly of the home; sons, Derek, Ryan, and Jack; mother, Shirley Horn of Tolland, Connecticut; sister, Brenda Norman of Marlborough, Connecticut; and brother, Walter Kelly of Marlborough, Connecticut.
