Walter H. Burnett

Walter H. Burnett, 85, died Sunday November 13, 2016. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Walter Hermon Burnett Sr. and Irma Hazel Davis. Mr. Burnett was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked as a supervisor for ITT.
Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Horn; a daughter, Carol Bielowski; a son; Gary Burnett; and a brother, Billy Burnette.
A funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Burnett is survived by his sister, Faye Richardson of Zebulon; grandchildren, Heather, Laura, Sam and Jay; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Bruce.

Joyce Harless

Joyce Harless, 74, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Joy was born in West Virginia to Edwald and Dorothy Roder on November 23, 1941.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Harless; sons, Jeremy (Jay) of Raleigh and Bradford of Durham; niece, Missy Barnette (Barney) and daughter Emma of Raleigh; brother, Michael (Nancy) of Morgantown, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Betty Lilly and husband, Gene Burnside of Clarksburg, West Virginia; niece Toma Davis (Bill) of Morgantown, West Virginia; and nephew, Tim Lilly (Donna) of Richmond, Virginia.
Joy was a former teacher, respiratory therapist and Mary Kay representative. She retired in 2004. She was a 44-year member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Durham.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s, the Salvation Army or the North Carolina Schnauzer Rescue.
Joy’s memorial service will be at St. Paul’s, 1200 W. Cornwallis Drive, Durham on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 3 p.m. Immediately following the inurnment service will be held at the columbarium at St. Paul’s. The church will be open an hour before the service for visitation with the family.
A fine lady, a loving mother, a great friend and someone we will miss dearly. Rest easy, Troop.

Doris Margaret Hopkins Haynes

Doris Margaret Hopkins Haynes, 94, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016, at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Ruth Seymour Hopkins and Ernest Hopkins. Mrs. Haynes was a retired secretary with Nationwide Insurance.
A funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2016, at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, 11501 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills, Maryland.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by her son, Fred Haynes and his wife, Judy, of Youngsville; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Kennedy and husband, John, of Raleigh, and John Haynes of Clayton; and great-grandchildren, Tim Haynes, Skylar Kennedy and Kloe Kennedy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 10 to12 prior to the service at the Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Road, Arbutus, Maryland.
Carolyn Jennie O’Hara

Carolyn Jeannie O’Hara, 74, departed this world on November 8, 2016 in her home in Wake Forest after a long battle with cancer. Her husband, daughters, sister, and brother-in-law were at her side when she passed away just seven days before her seventy-fifth birthday.
Born November 15, 1941 to Hugh and Helene (Forbes) Goodfellow (deceased) of Syracuse, New York, Carolyn was a smart, witty, spirited and giving woman. She will be remembered as a loving wife, kind mother, playful grandmother, and generous friend.Carolyn was a cheerleader at Onondaga Valley Academy in Syracuse, graduated from Cortland State College in Cortland, New York, taught English in several schools in New York, became a real estate broker in Golden, Colorado and later a mortgage broker in Naperville, Illinois. She was involved with the Central Adirondack Search and Rescue Team as the lead activation person in Inlet, New York. Carolyn enjoyed skiing with her family, loved traveling, playing bridge, quilting, sewing, and was an avid reader. Carolyn was a devoted church member all her life, culminating with her membership at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 52 years, the love of her life, Gregory O’Hara; her daughter, Laurie O’Hara (Ardeshir Farbod) of San Rafael, California; and son, Todd O’Hara (Teri) of Hadley, New York, and daughter Meg Elliott (Sean) of Pacific Palisades, California. Carolyn leaves behind her seven beloved grandchildren, AJ and Isabel Torres, Finn, Abbey and Luke O’Hara, and Paige and Quinn Elliott. She is also survived by her dear sister, Diane Terrell and brother-in-law, Hugh Terrell, of Wake Forest, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Carolyn O’Hara on Tuesday, November 22 at 2 p.m. at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church. The interment will follow at the Wake Forest Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society. Carolyn will be remembered in our hearts, always.

Horace J. Murray

Horace Joel Murray, 78, of Rolesville died Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Ruby Clyde Murray and David Franklin Murray, and was married to Brenda Joyce Murray, who preceded him in death. Mr. Murray was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked at Schrader Bellows for many years.
A memorial service was held at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, November 8, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Chaplain Richard Brown officiating.
Mr. Murray is survived by his daughters, Cassandra Murray Ortiz and husband, Jerry, and LaDonna Abbacchi and husband, Darren, all of Rolesville, and Linda Faircloth and husband, Wayne, of Wilmington; sons, Randy Murray and Dale Murray of Wilmington; granddaughter, Kayla Keith and husband, Casey, of Knightdale; 19 additional grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and his best friend and pet, “Chico”.

Erica Nicole Vitrigliano, 35, died Saturday, November 12, 2016. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Debra Fein Vitagliano and Vincent Charles Vitagliano. She worked as a dental hygienist.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Pine Forest Memorial Garden in Wake Forest.
Erica is survived by her parents, Vincent and Debbie Vitagliano; her grandmother, Nancy Vitagliano, and by her grandfather, Howard Fein; and her godmother, Donna Vitagliano.
