Albert Perry Sr.
Wake Forest
Mr. Perry was a member of Wake Forest Lodge #282 A.F. & A.M., a former member of the Wake Forest Fire Department where he was a past chief from 1958 to 1978 and a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Korea. He was retired mechanic with the Highway Patrol Troop C with over 20 years of service and was a member of Oak Level Christian Church where he was a former deacon. He had great pride in his home state and received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from Gov. James G. Martin in 1986.
A funeral service was held Sunday afternoon, November 6, 2016, at Oak Level Christian Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A visitation was held after the services in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Perry is survived by his son, James A. “Jim” Perry Jr. and wife, Faye, of Wake Forest; granddaughter, Tyler McFadyen of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Walker McFadyen; and a special friend, Teresa Perry of Youngsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Grace Frazier Perry.

Raymond ‘Buzzie’ Lee Adams

Raymond “Buzzie” Lee Adams Jr.’ 73, of Raleigh passed peacefully from this world to life eternal with Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at his home. He was born in Brodnax, Virginia to the late Raymond Lee Adams Sr. and Ernestine Taylor Adams. Mr. Adams spent most of his life in Virginia and most recently worked in sales/marketing for Newmart Builders Inc. in South Hill, Virginia. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.
Mr. Adams was an avid sports fan and golfer. He was a referee, player, and coach of various sports. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter and grandchildren attending their sports and school events. He enjoyed traveling to the beach to his daughter’s family home. He was full not only of love but laughter as he made people constantly laugh.
A celebration of Mr. Adams’ life was held Sunday afternoon, November 6, 2016, at Bay Leaf Baptist Church in Raleigh.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean P. Adams; daughter, Heather Fergeson and husband. Chuck. of Raleigh; grandchildren, Holden Ashworth, Chase Fergeson and Caroline Fergeson; brother, Aufente T. Adams and wife, Debbie, of Chesterfield, Virginia; nieces, nephews, and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Hicks Scott.

Alice Mae Crawford

Alice Mae Crawford, 78, of the Raleigh/Durham area passed away peacefully Saturday morning, October 29, 2016, at William M. Dunlap Center for Caring. She was born in Weymouth Township, New Jersey to the late Charles Slick and Hazel Chatham Slick.
Mrs. Crawford retired from Duke University Hospital as a Runner after many years of service. She looked at life as one big adventure. Mrs. Crawford enjoyed reading, word searches, Broadway musicals, her Birthday Club, was an avid Duke fan and could often be heard saying “I’m doing it my way.”
A private celebration of Mrs. Crawford’s life will be held at Clancy Strickland Funeral Home with a committal service to follow at the Wake Forest Cemetery columbarium.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by her children, Melinda Clark and partner, Louis Rossie, of Charlotte, Jeff Crawford and wife, Nikki, of Youngsville and Andrew Crawford of Raleigh; grandchildren, Ashley Clark, Tommy Clark, Henry Crawford and Mackenzie Crawford; brother, Larry Slick of Wildwood, New Jersey; and sister-in-law, Diane Slick of Egg Harbour Township, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Slick, and a sister, Marion Slick.

Marlyn Terwilliger Graney
Youngsville
Marlyn Terwilliger Graney, 79, of Youngsville departed this life on October 31, 2016. Born March 11, 1937 to Ella Gray and Rodney Terwilliger in Napanoch New York, Marlyn developed a love of the outdoors and often portrayed that love through her beautifully detailed watercolor portraits, penned “Injun.”
Marlyn married the love of her life, James Andrew Graney, on January 20, 1957 and together they operated the Graney Tree Farm in Pine Bush, New York. Marlyn’s most rewarding jobs however were that of wife, mother, and grandmother. A longtime member of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Marlyn spent many Sundays singing in the choir and spent years working in the church office. She loved to travel across the United States to visit national parks and to enjoy the sights of Las Vegas often taking hundreds of photos.
Marlyn is survived by her children, Ellen Graney of Oxford, Jim (Maria) Graney of Raleigh, Erin (Dyer) Bennett of Raleigh; grandchildren, Susan (Miles) Chappell of Durham, Justin (Emily) Graney of Wake Forest, and Casey Graney (James Swingle) of Wake Forest; nieces Melanie Spencer of Rosendale, New York, Mindy Soda of Williamsville New York, and Marcy Spain of Napanoch, New York; and her friends, “The Ya-Ya’s.” She was predeceased by her husband, James, her sister Helen (William) and her parents.
A funeral mass was held Monday at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest with Father Tony DeCandia officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Ellenville, New York.

Elizabeth F. Huber

Mrs. Elizabeth F. Huber, 95, formerly of Lititz, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her daughter Esther’s home in Wake Forest on October 31, 2016.
Elizabeth, also known as Betty or Libby, was preceded in death by her former husband, Dr. Robert B. Huber, who was a longtime dentist at 12 S. Broad St.; her parents Ella and Ray Forney of Lititz; her daughter, Anne Hyle, also from Lititz; her sister, Mary Jane Murphy of Warren, Arkansas; and her brothers, Ray Forney of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Cletus Forney of Lititz.
She is survived by her daughter, Esther Gurganus and her husband, Tommy Gurganus, of Wake Forest; her son, Robert B. Huber Jr. and his wife, Rebekah Huber, of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Elizabeth was a devoted and loving mother who will be greatly missed by her family.

Carson Roger Lindsey

Carson Roger Lindsey, 18, died Monday, October 31, 2016, from injuries sustained in a head-on collision in Louisburg.
Carson was born May 22, 1998 in Raleigh. He was a graduate of Wake Forest High School and a freshman at Louisburg College. He had a love for sports, but a passion for baseball.
A celebration of Carson’s life was held at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2016, in the gymnasium at Wake Forest High School.
Carson is survived by his parents, Shea and Amy Lindsey; a sister; Abbey Lindsey; twin brother, Cameron; paternal grandparents, Larry and Cherie Lindsey, all of Wake Forest; and numerous other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roger and Jean Brickhouse.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the family at gofundme.com in his honor.
Friends visited with the family following the service at the Wake Forest Baptist Church Family Life Center.

James W. Mink

James Mink passed away peacefully on November 1, 2016 at Rex Hospital following a long and courageous battle with cancer, a recent heart attack, and emotional grief over the loss of his beloved wife of 57 years. His wife, Mary Jane Mink, passed away just five days prior and he was eager to be reunited in perfect peace with her. He was surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Elgin, Illinois to Walter and Helen Mink.
He was a graduate of Elcho High School in Wisconsin. He received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1961 and master of science degree in electrical engineering in 1962, both from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He then went on to receive his Ph.D. degree in rlectrical engineering in 1964, again from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Jim was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
After graduation from 1964 to 1976, he was a research physical scientist in the U.S. Army Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. From 1976 to 1994 he worked for the Army Research Office in Raleigh. He held multiple positions including associate director, program manager, and director of the electronics division. From 1994 to 1997 he was a fulltime visiting professor and the graduate director of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University. He joined the National Science Foundation in 1999, where he served as the program director in the Electrical and Communications System Division of the Engineering Directorate. He was a lifelong member of IEEE.
Over his career he authored or co-authored over 90 refereed papers, book chapters, and presentations. He holds six patents in his field. He was the recipient of the Bronze Medal for the Issai Lefkowitz Award, two Bronze Medals for Army Research and Development Achievement Awards from the Department of the Army, the Superior Civilian Service Award from the Department of the Army, the IEEE Third Millennium Medal, a Meritorious Service Award from the IEEE MTT-S, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Centennial Medal from the University of Wisconsin, and the IEEE Microwave Pioneer Award.
In addition to being a dedicated scientist and devoted family member, he was an avid pilot. He enjoyed flying throughout his entire life. During his retirement, he built an experimental two-seater airplane with his brother and assisted many others in the designing and construction of their aircrafts at Franklin County Airport in North Carolina.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home, Wake Forest. Burial was in Raleigh Memorial Park.
He is survived by son, Christopher Mink (Sabrina); granddaughter, Amber Mink; nephews, Kenneth (Linda) Lorang, Paul Lorang, and Brian Mink (Monica); and nieces, Barbara (Charles) McClanahan, Susan (Kenneth) Hansen, Kathy (Steve) Ourada, Stacy (Kevin) Hinz, Leslie (Rodney) Bethel, Kara (Mike) Fisher, Joann (David) Schlosser, and Amy Mink. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Mink; parents, Walter and Helen Mink; and brother, Charles Mink.

Horace J. Murray

Horace Joel Murray, 78, of Rolesville died Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Ruby Clyde Murray and David Franklin Murray, and was married to Brenda Joyce Murray, who preceded him in death. Mr. Murray was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked at Schrader Bellows for many years.
A memorial service will be held at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, November 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Chaplain Richard Brown officiating.
Mr. Murray is survived by his daughters, Cassandra Murray Ortiz and husband, Jerry, LaDonna Abbacchi and husband, Darren, all of Rolesville, and Linda Faircloth and husband, Wayne, of Wilmington; sons, Randy Murray and Dale Murray of Wilmington; granddaughter, Kayla Keith and husband, Casey, of Knightdale; 19 additional grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and his best friend and pet, “Chico”.

Emogene C. Perry
Emogene C. Perry, 85, died Friday, November 4, 2016. She was the daughter of the late William and Julia Cash.
A funeral service was held 2 o’clock Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating.
Emogene is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lamuel D. Perry of Cary; a son, Lamuel D. Perry Jr. of Willow Springs; a daughter, Rachel P. Wolf; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
