Oscar “Harris” Ford III, 47, of Wake Forest died Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Harris was born June 18, 1968’ in Gulfport, Mississippi. He received his bachelor’s degree in microbiology and his master’s degree in microbial biotechnology, both from N.C. State University. He also received a second master’s degree in project management from Western Carolina University. Harris was a research scientist at UNC Chapel Hill with over 20 publications in prostate cancer research. Harris was an avid fisherman who loved being on the Gulf and Carolina coasts.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, April 29, 2016, in The Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Michelle Fordham Ford of Wake Forest; three children, Brandon, Aiden and Keira of Wake Forest; parents, Oscar Harris Ford Jr. and Madelyn Moran Ford of Mississippi; sister, Tina Laird and husband, Jeff, of Arizona; father and mother-in-law, Brad and Nikki Fordham of Tennessee; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
