For many years at Northfield Baptist Church in Ohio she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She began her real estate career at age 62 and worked for Fonville Morisey until her health forced her to retire at age 77. A charter member of Richland Creek Baptist Church in Wake Forest, she served there for many years on Sundays during the hospitality hour and on Wednesday nights during the Family Dinners.
Tenderhearted and gentle in spirit, Shirley always showed compassion, mercy and grace to others. Her cheerful disposition, wonderful sense of humor and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Exemplifying her love of God and her faith, she served others in church, helped neighbors and friends, and always took time to lift up and encourage those in need.
