Thomas Elbert “Jack” Williams III, 68, of Clayton passed away Sunday morning, February 7, 2016, at WakeMed. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and was an interior trim carpenter.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, February 10, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Jack is survived by his wife, Bobbie B. Williams; son, Michael Williams of Indiana; daughters, Michelle Owens and husband, Luke, of Louisburg, Jennifer Watson and husband, Derek, of Knightdale, and Dianna Brewer of Clayton; his mother, Helen Pearce of Garner; sister, Melynda Lever and husband, Johnny, of Garner; grandchildren, Jeffrey Williams, Matthew Williams, Kristen Williams, Jesica Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Ashleigh Duke, Dale Watson, Lane Watson, Hunter Brewer, Casey Brewer, and Rowan Brewer; and niece, Jennifer Knapmeyer and husband, Rob, and their daughter, Madison. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Elbert “Jack” Williams Jr.

Horace W. Marshall
Louisburg
Horace Wiley Marshall, 89, of Louisburg, formerly of Franklinton, died Saturday morning, February 6, 2016. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Lilly Wiggins Marshall and James Ellis Marshall, and was married to Frances Denton Marshall who preceded him in death. Mr. Marshall was a retired maintenance supervisor with Franklin County Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, February 12, 2016, at Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. David Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Marshall is survived by his brothers, James V. Marshall and his wife, Ann, of Louisburg, and Richard Marshall and his wife, Marilyn, of Georgia; and sisters, Alma M. Small of Franklinton, and Frances G. Marshall of Louisburg. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian M. Moulton and Dorothy M. Cummins.

Nancy Arnold Carter
Nancy Arnold Carter of Raleigh was surrounded by her loving family at her Raleigh residence Friday evening, February 5, 2016, when she was called home by her heavenly Father. She peacefully passed from her earthly bonds to her final reward in heaven. Nancy suffered from a progressive illness that robbed her of her quality of life for almost five years. Mercifully, her suffering has ended; eternal rejoicing has begun. Hand in hand since their childhood romance that began in the fourth grade at Murphey Elementary, Nancy leaves behind her faithful and loving husband, James Douglas Carter.
Nancy graduated from Hugh Morson High School. She was a long time member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church and served as an intercessor in prayer groups. Her greatest accomplishment while there was her involvement in the launch of the Christian Life Home. The first of its kind in the state, this home for women with problem pregnancies served as an alternative to abortion.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning February 10, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Carolyn Banks, of Cary, as well as her two daughters, Roani Lee Carter and Jo Ann Barnes and husband, Ken Barnes, of Raleigh. Grandchildren include Benjamin Levey and wife, Samantha, and Danielle Miller and husband, Corde, all of Wake Forest. Nancy was the proud Great Grandmother of Noah and Wyatt, both of Wake Forest.

Clifton Addison Pearce Jr.

Clifton Addison Pearce Jr., 59, of Wake Forest died Monday evening, February 1, 2016, at Wake Med in Raleigh. Mr. Pearce was born in Durham County on December 27, 1956, to the late Clifton Addison Pearce and Mary Lucy Powell George. He was held various jobs over the years, most recently as a mechanic.
A memorial service was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, February 6, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Spencer Strickland officiating.
Mr. Pearce is survived by his son, Robert Pearce, and his wife, Keri, of Christiansbrug, Virginia; mother, Mary Lucy George of Wake Forest; sister, Marva Illa Marie Pearce of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Whitney Brotherton, John Brotherton, Hunter Pearce, Mason Pearce; and sisters, Edith Alford, Mary Morales, Mae Lowary, and Bonnie Beverlin.

Gabrielle Dawn Sweder

Our beautiful daughter, Gabrielle Dawn Sweder, 25, passed away on January 30th, 2016, at her home in Wake Forest. She was born on May 18th, 1990, at Martin Army Hospital, Fort Benning, Georgia, to James Sweder and Dawn (Pursell) Sweder.
Gabby graduated from Hammonton High School in Hammonton, New Jersey, in 2009. She enjoyed writing, listening to music, helping friends in need and most of all, her kitty, Opi. She struggled with drug addiction and mental illness, but was working hard to try to overcome these horrible diseases.
Her grandparents, Raymond Sweder and Mary Margaret “Peggy” (Simon) Sweder greeted Gabrielle in Heaven. She is survived by her parents; her sister, BreAnna Sweder of Southern New Jersey; her grandparents, James and Shirley (Whitman) Pursell; her aunts and uncles and many cousins and friends.
A visitation service was held on Tuesday evening, February 9th, 2016, from 5 to 7 at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, followed by a brief memorial service in the adjoining chapel. A celebration of her life was held in Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, February 28th, 2016.

Doris Faison Eddins

Doris Faison Eddins, 90, of Wake Forest passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Hillside Nursing and Rehab Center. Doris was born in Wake County on December 27, 1925, to the late Charlie H. Faison and Frances Watkins Faison. She was wife of the late George Lee Eddins, who preceded her in death. Doris retired from Westinghouse where she was a dedicated employee for more than 30 years. She did not mind hard work and often talked about returning to work even after her health declined. She always said she had rather be working.
Doris loved the beach and was happiest when she and George were at Surf City fishing from the pier and socializing with friends. She loved flowers and could make most anything grow in her yard. She was a lifelong member of Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jerry W. Eddins (Donna) of Wake Forest; daughter, Sharon E. Johnson (fiance, Don Dillard) of Zebulon; grandchildren, Grant Eddins, Michelle Andrews (Tommy), Melissa Johnson,; and great-grandson, Lex Johnson, who was the joy of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Herbert (Tim) Faison of Wake Forest and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Jean F. Pugh, and brothers, Forrest and Durwood Faison.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Friday morning, February 5, 2016, at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Bowyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Ron and Sue Cottle, special neighbors who treated her like a second mom, and the staff of Hillside where she received wonderful care, love and support.

Owen Spencer Wadford

Owen Spencer Wadford, 88, of Wake Forest passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his home. He was born in Wake Forest and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Owen was preceded in death by his parents, Delmo Otis Wadford and Bessie Frazier Wadford; three brothers, Otis D. Wadford, Bruce W. Wadford, and Odell “Bud” Wadford; and by two sisters, Ethel W. Vestal and Elsie W. Caudle.
Mr. Wadfords’ passions in life were hunting, fishing, farming and later in life, cattle farming. He was very loyal to his family and friends.
Mr. Wadford is survived by his loyal friend and caretaker, Fred Frazier; also his “good buddies” and friends, Worley Massey, Ben Nall, Martin White and Roy Lynam.

(The following obituary is based on a version written by Faye in 2007, a short time after she had undergone surgery for a brain tumor.)
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Faye Carter Gryder, of 60 Rolling Acres Road, Youngsville, died at home on January 31, 2016. She was born on January 2, 1944, to Jess and Nella Carter in Hawkins County, Tennessee.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 32 years and the love of her life, Michael Gryder; her mother, Nella Carter of the home; and many cousins and friends.
Faye had a kind and generous spirit and loved to make people smile. She would have fed the world if you would have let her. She loved all animals and surely had several pets waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.
Faye was preceded in death by her father, Jess Carter, as well as brothers, Gary and Allen.
Faye graduated from Church Hill High School in Church Hill, Tennessee. She attended East Tennessee State University and graduated from Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh. Faye had a long and successful career with United Telephone Company in Tennessee. After moving to North Carolina, she held several jobs in the Raleigh area, the last being with American Drywall Company. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Pittsboro.
A Celebration of Life service conducted by Rev. Chris Gambos was held for her North Carolina friends at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest on Friday, February 5, 2016, at 7 p.m.. A Celebration of Life service will be held for her Tennessee family and friends at a later date.
