Margaret “Kay” Copeland Davis
Margaret “Kay” Copeland Davis, 62, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016, at Wake Med Hospital. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late James Clyde (JC) and Effie H. Copeland.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, January 27, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Moore and Pastor Joshua Blythe officiating.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband of 43 years, Glenn Davis; daughter, Amy Davis; son, Alan Davis; grandchildren, Marisa Davis, Kristen Davis and Jade Davis; and nephew Jack Copeland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Alan Copeland.
Mrs. Davis loved Jesus as her Savior. She loved her family with all of her heart. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy. She always looked forward to family reunions with her in-laws. She had many cherished friendships which lasted for many years. Kay will be missed by all who had the opportunity and privilege of knowing her.

Edith Privette Edwards
Rolesville
Edith Privette Edwards, 87, of Rolesville passed away on January 18, 2016, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
A native of Rolesville, she was predeceased by her husband, B. W. (Bill) Edwards, and son, Steve Allen Edwards; by her parents, Ellis and Eva Privette; brothers, June and James; and sisters, Frances and Mozelle. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Michael Justin Edwards.
Surviving her is her son, Donnie Ray Edwards (Karen) of Mount Pleasant; step-grandchildren, Winston David Holliday Jr. (Kimberly) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Kristina Lois Holliday of Houston, Texas.
Born in Franklin County in 1928 and nicknamed “Toots” by her brother, Mrs. Edwards became a mainstay of her family and friends all of her life. She was a person who treasured her close relationships. She and Nola Mae Daniel met in the third grade and were lifelong best friends to the end.
She moved to Mount Pleasant in 2012 and lived the remaining three years of her life at Sandpiper Assisted Living. She acquired the nickname of “Sugarfoot” from the loving staff. Always the life of any gathering, she will certainly be missed by everyone who knew her.
Mrs. Edwards attended Louisburg College. She was a member of Rolesville Baptist Church and Worthy Matron of Eastern Star of Rolesville. She and Bill Edwards married in 1945 and lovingly reared two sons. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend. A life well done.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2016, at Rolesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges and the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Donnie Woodlief, Rodney Privette, Al Privette, Chris Mobley, Grady Poole, and Glenn Scarboro.

Kerry Todd Watson
Wake Forest
Kerry Todd Watson, 50, of Wake Forest died Thursday, January 21, 2016, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. He was surrounded in love by his family. Kerry grew up in Creedmoor. His favorite things were NASCAR and fishing, especially off the pier at the ocean. He also loved gardening and grilling out.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church, 3500 Bruce Garner Road, Wake Forest. Visitation will be from 11 to 12 prior to the service at the church.
Kerry is survived by his daughter, Kara Watson Bishop, and her husband, Drew; mother, Joan Wheeler Watson of Creedmoor; two grandchildren, Ainsley, 4, and Sawyer, 1 ½; his son, Aryn Tingen; brother, Kelly Watson of Ohio; a niece, Kylie; and by two great nieces, Lisa and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his father, Kelly Watson, and fiancé, Deme Rochelle Figueroa.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made in Kerry’s name to the Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church Piano Fund.
The family would like to thank the staff at WakeMed Hospital for providing excellent care to not only Kerry but the family as well.

Ruth Joanne Walters
Wake Forest
Ruth Joanne Wentz Walters, 77, of Wake Forest went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2016. She was born December 1, 1938, in Charlotte to the late Joe Daniel Wentz and Edna Ruth Kimble Wentz. Joanne was her class valedictorian. She worked for many years as a legal secretary before joining her husband, Pastor M.L. Walters, as his church secretary.
Joanne accepted the Lord on May 27th, 1964. She was dedicated to her family and her church. She was active as a minister’s wife, organist, and Sunday school teacher. She was a doting grandmother as well as a 21-year stage three cancer survivor. Joanne loved to sew; she was a very skilled seamstress who made both of her daughters’ wedding gowns as well as many clothes for them. She also was very fond of flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her son, David Eugene Walters; a sister, Janet Wentz; and her parents.
Funeral services were held at 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, January 27, 2016 in The Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. David A. Shaffer and the Rev. Dr. Charles Bright officiating. A funeral service will also be held at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, at 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Lexington.
Joanne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Rev. M.L. Walters of Wake Forest; her children and their spouses, Joe and Dawn Walters of Wake Forest, Johnny and Paula Walters of Louisburg, Kathy and Robert Bailey of Wake Forest and Karen Walters of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, Christopher and Benjamin Walters, Emily Parnell, Sophie, Luci and Keegan Walters, David, Lauryn, Aaron and Elizabeth Bailey; a sister, Joyce (Dale) Weisent; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Williams, Joyce Taylor and Vivian Brooks; two brother-in-laws, Dwight and Kenneth Walters.

Laura Burt Williams Kilian

Laura Burt Williams Kilian, 80, of Wake Forest passed away Thursday morning, January 21, 2016, at her residence. Laura was born in Warren County, the daughter of the late Frederick and Alma Williams. She was very active in the Wake Forest United Methodist Church and the Lexington, South Carolina, United Methodist Church, ministering to those in need and singing in the choir.
Laura attended Greensboro College and earned a bachelor of science degree from Watts School of Nursing in Durham. She was a registered nurse and worked mainly in the hospital setting.
Laura lived her Christian life serving others and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Funeral services were held at 11o’clock Monday morning, January 25, 2016, at Wake Forest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Warren and the Rev. Helen Champion officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Warrenton.
Mrs. Kilian is survived by her husband, Leonard Andrew Kilian Jr.; daughters, Catherine Kilian Lopez and husband, Gregory, of Wilson, Janet Kilian Denzel and husband, Mike, of Westerville, Ohio, and Laura Kilian Brooks and husband, Don, of Wilson; brothers, Leon Scull Williams of Inez, and Robert Edgar Williams of Beaver Dam, Virginia; grandchildren, Andrew Barnes, Sydney Barnes, Ellen Denzel, Michael Denzel, Sarah Denzel, Nikki Brooks, Genna Brooks, and Camille Brooks; sisters-in-law, Connie Williams, Kathy Williams, and Vivian Williams; brothers-in-law, Grover Harris, Carl Rydquist, and Bill Reid; She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mabel Williams; sisters, Beaufort Harris, Charlotte Rydquist, and Elizabeth Reid; and by her brother, Frederick W. Joseph Allen Wells

Joseph Allen Wells, 62, of Franklinton passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016. He was born in Wake County, the son of Rosalee Allen Wells and Herbert “Jody” Wells.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, January 24, 2016, at Woodland Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Walker and the Rev. Gene Wells officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wells is survived by a son, Allen Wells, and by a daughter, Lindsay Butler both of St. Louis, Missouri; his former wife, Debbie Wells of St. Louis; parents, Herbert G. “Jody” and Rosalee Wells of Youngsville; sisters, Catherine “Cathie” McLean and husband, Ron, of Holden Beach, and Kimberly “Kim” Carr and husband, Rob, of High Point; brothers, Rev. Herbert “Gene” Wells and wife, Marsha, of Elm City, and Phillip “Phil” Wells of Wilmington; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ted Dillard, Ronnie McLean, Marcus Wells, Rob Carr, C. L. Carmichael, and Berkley Hayes.

Garrett Woody
Garrett Woody passed on 1.24.2016 and now is at peace in the arms of Jesus. Garrett leaves behind his mom and dad, Dave and Judy Woody; a brother, Marshall Woody; and his beautiful 4-month-old daughter, Laina Marie Woody. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
Garrett was an active young man and loved sports, especially football, basketball and hockey. He could tell you standings, player stats and anything you wanted to know about the sport. Garrett lived life hard and he played hard and was a wonderful loving father. We were proud to be his parents.
He was well liked and had an infectious smile and always wanted to help people. He had a fierce loyalty towards his friends and was always there for them when they needed him. He worked hard in the restaurant business and was continuing to move forward and growing with his company. He was preparing to go to Wake Tech to hone his skills.
Although his passing occurred at what we believe is a very young age, 24, God felt that he had a very full life and the remainder of his time will be spent with the Lord doing his work in heaven rather than battling the everyday challenges he faced on this earth. Garrett battled some demons in his life and always kept pushing forward even when he got knocked backward. He always managed to get up and face the challenges that were before him. Garrett gave his life to the Lord when he was 7 years old and we know he is in the arms of Jesus and not experiencing the pains he faced on this earth.
We know how well liked he was and we know the many lives he has touched and the impact his friends have had on him. Garrett’s family will always be thankful to all of his friends who stood beside him when he was going through difficult times and talked with him when he needed to talk with someone.
Today, however we can celebrate his life as his battles are over and he has won the victory through Christ. We are all thankful for the time we had with him on this earth to laugh and cry with him and to celebrate the victories with him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon January 30, 2016, at Crossroads Fellowship Church, 2721 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 to 1:45 prior to the service at the church.
