The Wake Forest Area Chamber Foundation is currently accepting applications for its Wake Forest Entrepreneurs Academies. The Academies will be held in two-week sessions during the summer. The first session is for rising 10-12th graders and is scheduled for July 11-July 22. The second session is for rising 7-9th graders and is set for August 1-12.  Both Academies will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day and will be held at The Loading Dock in downtown Wake Forest.

“For five years, we’ve hosted a Young Entrepreneurs Fair which allows students aged 9-14 to make and sell their products,” explained Corey Hutcherson, executive director of the Chamber Foundation. “But we want to provide more in-depth training for middle and high school students who are interested in learning how to start a real business. Because of the generosity of members of our business community, we’re able to offer these programs at no charge.”

Student entrepreneurs will spend 10 days at the Academy learning how to think like an entrepreneur; how to develop and fine tune their ideas; how to create a business and marketing plan; learn how to do market research; and in the end, how to pitch their business idea to a team of judges. “We’re committed to giving away up to $20,000 to help students get their businesses off the ground,” said Hutcherson.

Interested students need to apply before the July 1 deadline. The application can be accessed here: https://tinyurl.com/yckncp66. Questions can be directed to Ann Welton via email: ann@wakeforestchamber.org.
