Join us on Thursday, July 18, at 5:30 p.m. for Business After Hours, the Chamber’s most popular networking event. This month’s Business After Hours is hosted by B & W Hardware Co. and will kick off their 70th Anniversary weekend celebration.

B & W Hardware Co. will be showcasing Traeger grills during Business After Hours. Regional Traeger representatives will cook a variety of meats, sides and desserts all on the grill. Don’t forget to bring along your business cards for some great giveaways!

Can’t make Business After Hours? Stop by B & W Hardware Co. on Saturday, July 20, to sample more Traeger cooking, homemade ice cream, and cake as the celebration continues.

The chamber’s Senior Lifestyle Expo is returning in September. This year’s event is presented by Atlantic Tire & Service and will be held on two days. Mark your calendar and plan to join us Monday, Sept. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church.

Registration is now open and booths are being snapped up quickly. Only a few sponsorships remain. We also have standard and premium booths, food booths and nonprofit booths available. See the booth registration packet on the chamber website.

The Town of Wake Forest is updating its sign ordinance to make it easier to understand and use. The draft includes adding some areas where signs will be permitted and taking out some areas where signs may not be permitted.

The town welcomes input regarding the UDO Sign Ordinance. The current version can be viewed online at https://www.wakeforestnc.gov/sites/default/files/uploads/planning/udo/ch-11-signs-amended-09-18-2018.pdf

The ordinance will be ready for the Aug. 6 public hearing and for adoption on Aug. 20.

Connect with Wake Forest’s top influencers, explore your leadership skills and discover diverse avenues to make a difference in your community by participating in the 2019-2020 Leadership Wake Forest Program.

Participants meet once a month from September through May for interactive sessions, panel discussions and forums. On-site tours and hands-on activities are a component of the program which is then capped off with a group community project. The result? Well-rounded, informed leaders.

The Wake Forest Chamber Foundation’s Career Readiness Academy needs multiple facilitators and speakers to lead sessions and provide career readiness training to local high school students. The program runs from September through March 2020.

There will be an information session about how to host an intern on July 25 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the chamber office.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our request last week to support our Community Raffle. New chamber member Brandon Schenck of Yacht Club Beverage House bought eight tickets for his business. Brand says if their tickets win, they will have a party for all their employees that will also raise money for a local charity. Their employees will decide what charity to support, so everyone wins!

The Wake Forest Chamber’s Community Raffle is back for its second year! Presented by Edward Jones, the raffle will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina, the Wake Forest Chamber and other community civic groups and nonprofits.

Tickets are $50 each and only 1,500 tickets will be sold. A total of $15,000 in prizes will be awarded. The top prize is $10,000 cash. Other prizes include: $3,000 cash, a $1,000 lottery ticket basket, a $500 lottery ticket basket and $500 cash.

The special promotion is buy 3 tickets, get one free. Tickets may be purchased at the Wake Forest Chamber at 350 South White Street, from a chamber board member or ambassador, or online at https://go.rallyup.com/wfcommunityraffle.

You do not need to be present to win but you must be 18 years or older to buy a ticket. Winning tickets will be drawn August 15, 2019 during Business After Hours.
