New Hope Valley Railway ready for riders

New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR), the Triangle’s Train, will begin its 2022 season on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Located in Bonsal, N.C., 30 minutes from Raleigh, the non-profit, all-volunteer railway offers a full season of special ride days and events with the return of Brew ‘n’ Choo, Slow Down Sunday, Operate A Loco and Family Cabooses.

Tickets can now be purchased online at www.TriangleTrain.com for all 2022 ride days except Track or Treat Halloween Express and Santa’s Reindeer Roundup Express that will go on sale in July.

Trains depart from NVHR’s rail yard with rides lasting approximately an hour. Visitors will travel eight miles round trip in covered, open-air passenger cars. Ticket prices range from $9 – $16.

Train transportation is federally mandated the same as air transportation and masks are still required. Masks must be worn by all visitors and volunteers in compliance with the current Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements.

Jim Whitten, New Hope Valley Railway marketing/ticketing volunteer, expressed his enthusiasm for the new season. “Our volunteers will be ready to welcome visitors for a memorable train ride and fun in our rail yard. Last year’s season was impacted by the pandemic limiting train capacity and the number of rides. This year we’re back to a full schedule and ride capacity with safety protocols in place.”
