Summary of Art Project: Illustrating Poems – Instructor, Lynda Edwards
This project is for all students no matter what their artistic ability is.
This art project is designed to help students with their language skills, interpretation, imagination, drawing skills, and communication skills all of which are related to learning how to illustrate a poem.
A short discussion will be held to help students understand what a poem is and how to write a poem.
A short discussion will be held to talk about colors and lines and how they play an important part in the students’ design and their interpretation of the poem.
Examples of published poems will be provided to the students.
Students will then be led to write their own poems to illustrate.
Students will be taught how to layout a design that incorporates their original images by interpreting the words of their poems and will be taught how to lay out the poem on top of their original image.
