One of the highlights of the spring season in Wake Forest is the Wake Forest Garden Club’s annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and Garden and Art Tour in the Wake Forest Historical Museum, on its grounds and in local gardens. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the high tea, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the garden and art tour. You can buy tickets for both or for just one.
The tea will be served in the museum, first come – first served, and many of the guests will be wearing their finest hats and gloves.
The garden and art tour will feature local gardens selected for their unique and creative displays where local plein-air artists will be demonstrating how they create.
On the grounds there will be other attractions. The vintage car show features classic cars owned by local car aficionados who are always ready to talk about their treasures. There will be locally grown plants for sale with garden club members ready with expert advice on their planting and care. There will be a select few talented artists who are showing their creations for sale.
Tickets for the Mad Hatter’s Tea are $20 and $15 for the Garden/Art Tour. Buy both at www.wfgardenclub.org or at the Facebook page at Wake Forest Garden Club. On May 11, tickets will be available in the Wake Forest Garden Club tent for $15 for the garden and art tour, $25 for a limited number of tea tickets.
The Wake Forest Garden Club is proud to be the longest continuing community service organization in Wake Forest. It is a non-profit organization open to anyone with an interest in their mission to promote interest and education in horticulture, landscaping, floral design and environmental concerns. Proceeds from the Mad Hatter’s Tea and Garden Party will benefit the Wake Forest Historical Museum gardens along with other projects supported by the Wake Forest Garden Club. These include Arbor Day, Dirt Day, plantings along North Main Street and downtown Wake Forest, local school planting projects and Wake Forest Garden Club Flower Cart which creates small floral arrangements each week for nursing home residents, shut-ins and others needing a little cheer in their day.
