Indulge your sweet tooth at the market

Cannot resist that cheese Danish or a chocolate dessert? Take that sweet tooth to the Wake Forest Farmers Market Saturday and start shopping. You can even find gluten-free desserts and pastries!

The Yummies booth has breads, jams, pastries and fresh-squeezed orange-ade.

Wood Leaf Honey sells local honey from different seasons, just right to sweeten your breakfast cereal.

TLC Bees also sells local honey, honey-ade and honey products.

Gluten Free with Sarah B offers a variety of breads, baked goods, pastries and desserts.

Terri Wilkinson in the Flour Garden booth has breads, pies and pastries from organically grown and locally milled flours and grains. She also offers two varieties of granola.

At Edna Lee’s Farm booth, you will find flowers and herbs along with cheese Danish and other varieties, cookies, cheese straws, cakes and rolls.

Be sure to bring lots of bags to carry all your treasures home.

The market is open from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday in the OneCare Inc. parking lot behind CVS which is also a used-car lot. Park carefully and remember pet dogs are not allowed in the market area. There is an exception for service dogs.

The local chapter of Quilts of Valor – Ladies of Valor will be displaying their quilts and offering raffle tickets for a quilt you could win on July 4.

The small Wake Forest group has been making quilts and giving them to local veterans for about two years. They meet every Tuesday at the American Legion Post 187 on East Holding Avenue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and welcome anyone who would like to quilt with them. The proceeds from the raffle will be used for more quilting supplies.

The music this week is by Dry Bread Road, Rick and Betty Newsom. Stick a few dollars in their tip jar; they are not paid by the market.

The Wake County Master Gardeners will answer your gardening questions and provide soil test kits.

See it on Facebook and at www.wakeforestfarmersmarket.org or call 919-671-9269 for information.
