Local veterans of America’s wars will be remembered and honored Wednesday, Nov. 11, by a ceremony at the Wake Forest Veterans Memorial next to the Heritage Golf Course Clubhouse on Heritage Club Avenue off Heritage Lake Road. The ceremony will be conducted by the Walter C. Cole American Legion Post 187, and all area residents are invited to attend.
Wake Forest Town Hall and town offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, and will reopen Thursday, Nov. 12.
Yard waste collection will be suspended Nov. 11, but police, garbage, recycling and bulk pick-up services will not be interrupted. Wake Forest bus service, including the Wake Forest-Raleigh Express and the Wake Forest Loop, will also follow the normal schedule.
During the week of Nov. 9, the town will complete its normal five-day yard waste collection cycle in four days beginning with Monday’s route and ending with Friday’s route. So, for example, on Monday crews may run Monday’s route and a portion of Tuesday’s route, then on Tuesday finish Tuesday’s route and complete a portion of Wednesday’s route. In order to ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, residents are urged to leave their normal yard waste and loose leaves in separate piles at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9.
As always, please avoid placing items on or near mailboxes, utility boxes, utility poles or other fixed objects. The normal yard waste collection schedule will resume Monday, Nov. 16, at 7 a.m.
Wake Forest residents can track the progress of leaf collection crews by calling the Leaf Collection Hotline at 919-435-9582. The hotline is updated each weekday morning by 8 a.m. with information concerning where crews will be working that day.
Bulk pick-ups will be scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10. To schedule a bulk pickup, call 919-435-9570 by 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9. Residents who call after hours may leave a voicemail message that includes their name and physical address. Residents may also request a bulk pickup by emailing bpearce@wakeforestnc.gov.
