Homeless in Wake Forest, Rolesville can get vaccinations, checks

There has been concern by some about the homeless people in Wake Forest and Rolesville and whether they will have a chance for the COVID vaccinations and the checks from the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill that just passed into law this afternoon.

Emoke Anderson at the Northern Regional Center reported this afternoon the following:

Here is what we know so far:

  1. As far as vaccinations go – the County is hoping to vaccinate all homeless individuals on the week of March 24-April 1. The plan is to offer them the J&J vaccine because it is a one and done shot. All shelters, Oak City Cares, WakeMed and street outreach teams will be involved in this county wide effort.
  2. There will be a white flag event organized on that week no matter what the weather condition will be. This date of the event is not set yet, but will also be a mass vaccination event.
  3. Triangle Family Services – Street Outreach team is in contact with the category I homeless population in Wake Forest and Rolesville area.
  4. As of right now, we understand that the homeless population does not need appointments if they go to the white flag event or Oak City Cares sites.
  5. Oak City Cares mail registration is open to all category I homeless population. Verification of homeless status have to be provided to be able to qualify for the mail service. Triangle family Services can provide that document on client request.

Hope this helps. I will keep you updated as more specific information comes out on how the vaccination sites will be set up.
